Peter Connors Obituary

Connors, Peter
MECHANICVILLE - Connors, Peter J. It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved brother, Peter J. Connors, who was born in Troy, N.Y., on June 18, 1958, and passed away suddenly from a cardiac episode, on February 21, 2025, near his home, in Lady Lake, Fla. If you were lucky enough to have Pete in your life, you know just how special he was and how lucky you were. Pete spent every day of his life spreading kindness and love. We will all miss his daily text messages, joyful videos, phone calls, his friendship, love and humor. Pete graduated from Mechanicville High in 1976, and immediately served in the United States Army, where he spent most of that time at Fort Ord, Calif., as a military firefighter. From there, Pete was a professional firefighter at the Watervliet Arsenal until Ankylosing Spondylitis forced him to retire. Pete then found his calling as a trusted and reliable court clerk in Saratoga County, Ballston Spa, where he made countless friends. Pete was sadly predeceased by the love of his life, his wife, Judi Lang Connors; his parents, Howard "Pete" and Dorothy Connors; brother, Paul Connors; nephew, Sean M. McBride; and sister-in-law, Joan Connors. Pete was a 45-year member and Past Exalted Ruler at the Mechanicville-Stillwater Elks Lodge, a past president of the Ballston Spa Lions Club and a current member of the Mechanicville-Stillwater Lions Club. Pete loved local politics and had many good friends on both sides of the aisle. He was a former Mechanicville Republican Chairman and candidate for the Town of Ballston Supervisor, and was a parishioner of St. Timothy Catholic Church in Sumter County. Pete wintered in Fla., and spent his summers at his home at Fern Lake, in the High Peaks of N.Y., where he made many close friends and made beautiful and cherished memories with his family. He loved the lake and was the first one to swim in the spring and the last one out of the water in October. Pete was the most special uncle to Paul, Shannon, Jacob, Grady, Martin, Maggie, Andrew, Will, Hannah, Michael, Stacey, Daegan, Donovan, Brooke, Ivy, Romy, Tripp, and Amy. Pete is survived by his siblings, Joseph, James (late Joan), William (Elysia) and Sean (Mary) Connors; and his sisters, Rosemary (Biagio) Cordiano and Ella (Marty) McBride; as well as his in-laws, Marcia and Donald, and their families and many cousins that he loved like siblings. Pete was the most charitable, sweet and thoughtful person that one could ever meet, and he will be missed by all who knew him. We are grateful to our brother, Jim, who had lunch with Pete just a couple of hours before he passed, and was with him to give him a kiss goodbye in his final moments. The best way to honor Pete would be to make someone smile, show patience, be kind to strangers, and reach out to someone just to check in and ask how they're doing. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 19, at St. Clement's Catholic Church, Saratoga Springs, N.Y., at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Peter J. Connors to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital c/o Michael Connors, P.O. Box 443, Mechanicville, N.Y. 12118.

Pete was a wonderful neighbor. Always had a smile when I'd walk by his house walking my dog and he would always ask how my husband Grady was doing. He will be greatly missed.

"I´m deeply saddened by Pete´s passing. He was truly the kindest man, a bright light even in the darkest days at the courts. No matter the challenges, he always found a way to lift others up. Rise high, my friend, but leave a piece of your kindness behind to guide and rescue those of us still here. Rest in peace, Pete."

Peter was a kind man. For example, he heard I´d injured myself and showed up on my porch , at my door with a bag of groceries. He was just NICE!

Peter was a beloved player on our 'Cops and Robbers' Bocce team, here in the Villages, Florida. All 32 players on our Bocce Buddies league. He was so kind and helpful to all of us and he will never be replaced in our hearts. He came early and blew off the courts for all of the players, every week. Took out the equipment and put it away too. So glad I/we got to know him. RIP dear man!

Our condolences and prayers to the family of Pete. The first time we had the pleasure of meeting Pete was when we were looking for a new home. Pete was selling his home in Ballston Spa. We fell in love with it immediately and he knew we were the right people to take care of it. We became friends and he would stop by on occasion to visit. We exchanged Christmas cards every year. Pete was a beautiful soul and he will be missed.
