Peter Persico Obituary

SCHENECTADY Peter C. Persico, 88, of Belmont Avenue, entered eternal life on Wednesday morning, July 5, 2006. Born July 16, 1917 in Gloversville, Peter was a son of the late Charles and Concetta Pisapia Persico. He was a graduate of Gloversville High School and served in the Coast Guard during World War II. He received a bachelor of science degree in industrial arts from Oswego State University, class of 1951. Peter was employed as a supervisor of drafting, training and the apprentice program for the General Electric Company in Schenectady for 17 years, and it was there that he met his future bride. He then worked for NYS Department of Labor where he was an on the job training specialist, retiring in 1985 after 17 years of service. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Helen's Church and the Sons of Italy Lodge, where he held several chairs. Survivors include his beloved wife, Carmela Perreca Persico, whom he married July 27, 1952; loving father of Peter P. Persico, Emily Ann and her husband Richard Miller, all of Schenectady and Charles James and his wife Pam Persico of San Diego, Calif.; devoted grandfather of Carly Matarazzo, Luke Peter Miller, Jake Miller, Nicholas Persico, Ryan Persico and Diana Persico; brother of the late Grace Lapos, Sue Riccio, Josephine Paciolla-Meltzer and Tom Persico; uncle of Carol and Ret. Col. Edmond Kane, Peter and Joyce Paciolla, Tom Paciolla, Annie and Jerry Wyszomirski, Alfred and Barbara Riccio, Michael Riccio, Richard and Sandy Riccio, Susan Riccio, Phyllis and Biff Kirk, Sebastian and Toby Persico and Connie Persico; dear, dear friend and second family to Dr. Ivan and Martha Hernandez. The Persico family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Schumacher and the wonderful staff of Capitol District Dialysis for their loving care and the staff of St. Clare's Hospital for all their kindness shown to Peter and the entire family during his illness. Services will be held Saturday morning at 8 a.m. from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Streets, Schenectady, then to St. Anthony's Church, Seward Place, where a Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Friday, 5-8 p.m. In remembrance of Peter, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Carm,Peter,Charles and Emily, Even though it has been over 20 years since I last saw any of you, I wanted to express my deepest sympathies to you all for your loss. Time goes by and our lives change, but some things and some people we never forget. Like Peter's jolly smile and beautiful blue eyes. He will be sadly missed. Bert & I are glad we got to spend some time with Uncle Pete at Paula's Wedding.

Especially Bert! He has so many wonderfull memory's of Uncle Pete from when he was younger when Uncle Pete would come on the job sites. Aunt Mela you have suffer a great loss a wonderfull husband. God will get you thru this. Keep strong! You know Uncle Pete will look down and want it that way. We are deeply sorry we cannot be there do previous obligation that cannot be cancelled. But we we will be there in spirit.Our thoughts and prayers will be with you all during the services.
