Peter L Smith flew with my Dad as part of VC-28 and VT-28. His name appears several times in his flight log flying TBMs off the USS Monterey in '44. My Dad's name was Paul G Pennoyer jr. So glad to hear he received the Flying Cross medal.

My great grandpa Albert Warren Yoxall was a pilot of VC-28 and flew with Peter during their stay on Guadalcanal, Henderson Field during March/April 1943. I would love to exchange information with the family of Peter. I´m sorry for your loss, Albert is no longer with us either. [email protected]

Virginia, Margaret, Chris, Terry, Jim, Bernice and Loretta,
We are so sorry about your Dad. There are so many nice memories of him. Uncle Pete was not just a gentleman, he was the perfect gentleman. He handled the tragedies in his life with courage. He handled all of his accomplishments with humility. Uncle Pete was an inspiration to everyone. You are so lucky to have had him for your Dad. Each one of you is a testament to him. He was proud of each of you. What a laugh he had and how he loved his grandchildren. Janice and I are sorry that we can not be there for the wake and funeral. Please know your Dad and all of you are in our thoughts and prayers.

The Smith Family,
Pete was a great neighbor. He would come over and sit with me on our front porch and talk baseball and politics. Very sharp and a great sense of humor. Please accept our sincere condolences. We will truly miss him.

Margaret,
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad. I have so many memories as a young teenager spending the weekends at your house, and of course being picked on by your brothers, all in fun.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
