Back in the early and mid-seventies I worked as a Masseur for the Fort Orange Club in Albany. Me. Battaglia was a regular to the health club and I always enjoyed his company. His business partner Vince Rinella had a summer home near ours in Sacandaga Park. The fun years. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.

I am so saddened for everyone that he has passed away. We are all going to miss him beyond words! He was always so funny and he always made me laugh. As the years would go by when I was getting a little older he said " please do not call me Mr. Battaglia " and I said how about Philly and he thought that was endearing,
seeing that I was Staci's Friend, he has a special place in my heart. I am going to miss giving him big hugs and kisses. Love you, Philly
may you Rest In Peace.

Gone From My Sight
By Henry Van Dyke
I am standing upon the seashore.
A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then some at my side says: There, she is gone!
Gone where?
Gone from my sight.
That is all.
She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to destined port.
Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at that moment when someone at my side says: There, she is gone! there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: Here she comes!
And that is dying...

Dear Mary Jo & Ray, Tony, Stacy and extended Battaglia family,
Please accept my condolences on the passing of your father and grandfather. He was a wonderful man that was quick to offer a contagious smile and warm handshake. He was a fixture at the Roost and it is a blessing that he is at peace after a tough battle. He will certainly be missed and I am sure he is enjoying his first tee shot on the course of Heaven.

To truly appreciate what a great man your dad was one only had to spend a short time in his company. Perferably on the golf course with Mr. Scaringe and my father. You couldn't help but smile when he was around.

I am saddened to read about the loss of your dad. He was one of the great dads of St Gregory's Fathers association who participated in our father-faculty basketball game with passion. A really good guy.
