Rainy Chapko

Chapko, Rainy TROY Rainy Chapko of Troy passed away on March 28, 2022, surrounded by family at Samaritan Hospital. He was 78. Born on May 10, 1943, in Cohoes, he was the son of the late Alex and Janet (St.Gelais) Chapko. Rainy was a devoted and loving husband of 37 years to his "Baby Doll" Stephanie (Hoag) Maloney. Rainy served in the Army for 20 years before his honorable discharge. Following his service in the Army, he went on to work as a mail handler for General Mail facility in Albany, where he retired after 21 years. In his free time, Rainy enjoyed dancing, playing horseshoes and cribbage, and taking trips with Stephanie to Atlantic City. He was also an avid Yankees fan. Survivors, along with his Baby Doll Stephanie, include his children, Diona Chapko, Brenda (George) Chapko, Dennis Chapko, and J.D. (Carolyn) Maloney; his grandchildren, Cassondra Chapko, Camille Coyne, Maple Maloney, and Dallas Maloney; as well as his siblings, Darl (late Joan) Chapko, Larny (Lori) Chapko, Tian (Bob) Chorwat, and Alton (Tracie) Chapko; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, March 31, from 4 - 6 p.m. at Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 173 Main Street, Schaghticoke. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 1, in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Burial will take place in the Saratoga National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. following the service.
