Ralph Gaunay Obituary

Gaunay, Ralph E. COLONIE, N.Y. Ralph E. Gaunay Sr., 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Ellis Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Ralph was born in Troy to the late Joseph and Jennie (Gates) Gaunay. He served with the United States Navy during World War II on the USS Missouri, and also served during the Korean War. He worked for General Electric as an engineering technician where he later retired after 40 years. Ralph enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife Vivian, golf, square dancing and spending time with his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Ralph is survived by his loving children, Ralph E. (Judy) Gaunay Jr. and Susan G. (Patrick) Murphy; cherished grandchildren, Sean A. (Angela) Murphy and Jennifer M. (Laszlo) Koller; his adored great-grandchildren, Erin and Kathleen Murphy and Zsuzsanna Koller; his sister-in-law, Julia (Stephen) Kane; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 67 years, Vivian Gaunay; his brothers, Joseph, Richard, Leo, Victor, Edward, William and his sisters, Isabel, Clemence and Elizabeth. The family would like to thank Pamela A. Murphy for the wonderful care and concern she has shown Ralph. Funeral services will be held Saturday 8:15 a.m. from New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave.) then to St. Clare's Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Calling hours will be Friday 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Clare's Church, c/o Food Bank, 1947 Central Ave., Albany, NY 12205.
