Reinhold Scholz Obituary
EAST BERNE - Reinhold G. Scholz of East Berne passed away peacefully in Albany on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. He was 90.
Born in Ratekau, Germany, on March 15, 1934, to Reinhold and Marta Scholz. Leaving his hometown at a young age, he boarded a merchant ship as a deck hand, working his way up to full "matrose." Reinhold was very proud of his accomplishments on the high seas. Immigrating to the United States in 1957, where he met the love of his life, Heidi Krouse, while learning English at Albany High School. Working hard as a painter and wallpaper hanger, with his wife beside him, they raised two children, Miranda and Ron. His life eventually brought him to Warners Lake, East Berne, where they operated Scholz's Hofbrau for many years.
Reinhold was predeceased by his parents; and his three siblings, Lisa Anna Marie Meier (Wilhelm), Isolde Scholz and Herman Scholz. Additionally, he was predeceased by the love of his life, Heidi; and his son, Ron. He is survived by his daughter, Miranda Scholz; and his grandson, Ian Hofelich (Katherine); and his great-grandson, Triton Hofelich; two nephews; Manfred "Fred" (Dawn) Meier, and Michael (Kate) Meier.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

Reinhold was as friendly a man as there ever was. Always enjoyed seeing him at his restaurant which served the best German food this side of Bavaria. A very generous man, Reinhold was a friend to all. May you now rest in peace.

We remember Reinhold as a gentleman who was very friendly and fun to be around. We enjoyed the company of him and his wife at their restaurant and Mike enjoyed reading his book. He will be missed by many. Are thoughts and prayers for the family.
