Richard Bennett Obituary
SCHENECTADY - Richard E. Bennett, III, age 71, husband of Cynthia Szypulski Bennett of Schenectady, passed away Friday, May 30, 2025, at Ellis Hospital.
Born November 16, 1953, in Oneonta, N.Y., he was the son of the late Richard E. Bennett, Jr. and Agnes Bennett Stewart; and the stepson of Lodia Bennett.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia, of Schenectady, N.Y. He is also survived by his sister, Wanda Bennett Walters of Oneonta, N.Y.; his brother, Robert Bennett of Calif.; his niece, Megan (Steven) Romanelli; and nephew, Jeremiah Bennett; in addition to many cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Wendy Bennett; and his grandparents, Sadie and Richard E. Bennett, Sr., who raised him.
Following his undergraduate education at Hudson Valley Community College and SUNY Cortland, Mr. Bennett (Rich) earned a Master's Degree in Education at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He enjoyed a long and successful career as Associate Dean of Continuing Education, Summer Sessions and Workforce Development at Hudson Valley Community College.

I've known Richard my whole life. He lived across the street from me. We had such great times. He has left us way too soon. He will be missed by so many. My condolences to his family.

Deepest sympathies to Richard's family. Was always great seeing Richard when we all got back home at alumni weekends. Will really miss seeing Richard. He was such a nice guy and will be dearly missed.
