MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Robert J. Cozzens Jr., 96, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 14, 2023.
Bob was born on November 6, 1926, in Waterford to the late Robert and Helen (Fero) Cozzens. Bob was married for 51 wonderful years to the love of his life, Mary.
Bob was an accountant for the state of New York for 42 years. Upon his retirement, Bob and Mary moved to Little River, S.C. to their house on the lake. They traveled extensively on cruises around the world. For many years they spent every March in Port St. Lucie, Fla. attending major league baseball training camps, and were long-time ticket holders for the N.Y. Mets spring training.
Bob would spread his kindness and good-natured humor everywhere he went; whether he was traveling, eating at a favorite local restaurant, or at home shooting pool and playing poker with his neighborhood buddies, Bob was always remembered as having a genuine love for people and greeted everyone with his infectious smile. He always brought brightness and happiness to any room that he entered.
Bob is survived by his wife of 51 years Mary (Corey); son, Mark (Tammy) of St. Johns, Fla.; his grandsons, Zachary and Alec, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bob was predeceased by his brother, Ted (Edgar) Cozzens; sister, Ruth Lawrence; and his granddaughter, Lily Alexandra Cozzens.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Portside especially the "tornado" Joan for the love and care of Bob.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
