Robert Demarest Obituary

Demarest, Robert J. GREEN ISLAND Robert J. Demarest, 60, died unexpectedly on Sunday, January 31, 2016, after being stricken ill at his home. Born in Green Island, son of George Demarest, Jr. of Green Island and the late Leona Nelson Demarest, he was a graduate of Heatly High School. He had been employed as a driver for Holland Nursery and Florist Shop in Colonie and Sherwin Williams Company before retiring several years ago. Bob had been a drummer in many bands through the years, including "Double Dare." He was also a car enthusiast. In the nice weather, Bob would be seen daily riding his bike throughout the village and was the "go to guy" when any of the neighborhood kids needed their bikes fixed. In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Janice Piscitella Demarest; his daughters, Sara (Cory) Seeloff and Kera Demarest, both of Green Island; and his grandchildren, Karleigh and Logan Seeloff. Bob was predeceased by his brother, G. Michael "Mort" Demarest. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Thursday, at 9 a.m. at the McNulty Funeral Home, 147 Hudson Ave., Green Island. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens, Colonie. There will be no calling hours. Please visit mcnultyfuneralhomegreenisland.com for more information or to sign the guest book.

Bob, I know you are up in heaven meeting up with family and old classmates, like Pete Groff and Jennie Gwinn. I'm sure you are keeping everyone laughing. Don't worry about all the noise as I am sure the good lord needs and enjoys a good laugh every now and then.

Jan and family,

My condolences to you all. He was a good friend.
Heaven got a little more funnier, and maybe they needed an extra drummer for the band, or someone to repair their chariots.
He will be sorely missed.

Janice, Sara and Kera. Please accept my condolences. Bob will live on in the hearts of almost everyone he encountered. Besides a talented drummer, And gear head, Bob had one of the quickest wits on the Island. his quick remarks, and comments had everyone in stitches. A friend to all, and meticulous in his work, his Bike repair talents will also be missed. I will think of him and our friendship whenever I see a fine old Car, or listen to a built engine.
