Robert Fischer Obituary

Fischer, Robert "Bob" ALBANY Robert (Bob) Fischer passed away in Albany Medical Center on September 28, 2012 after a long fight with Lou Gehrig disease (ALS). He was born February 16, 1958 at Vassar Hospital in Poughkeepsie. He grew up in Pleasant Valley, N.Y., attending Arlington Schools until graduation. He worked many years at James Burn International in Poughkeepsie. He enjoyed history and collected many period knives, each with its own story. As an avid rock hound, he was always searching for the perfect polished stone, geode, crystal, or great chunk of fossilized creatures. He took delight talking about his treasures. His fellow workers at C.H. Robinson, Albany, often fell victim to his zeal. He is survived by his parents, George and Laura Fischer of Poughkeepsie; brother, James and his wife Donna Fischer of Crawfordville, Fla.; brother, Scott and his wife Kim Fischer and their children Daniel and Shayna of Pleasant Valley, N.Y.; daughter Jennifer Miller of Lakeville, Conn.; and his best buddy, adopted brother, Steve Testa and his family of Middletown, Conn. A memorial to Bob's life will be held at a later date as he requested. He will be missed by his family and many friends. Our days will be a little darker without him. Arrangements for cremation to be made by Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Jim, Scott and family. I just heard the sad news. Have not seen any of you guys in a while but I never knew Bob was sick. I can't believe it. He was a great funny guy and I have a lot of memories of hanging out and playing ball with all the gang in PV back in the day. My deepest condolences to you all. Jim, next time you are in town, give me a call. Larry Reed (Coach)
