Robert J. "Bob" Gillespie

Gillespie, Robert J. "Bob" BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. Robert J. "Bob" Gillespie, 88, formerly of Woodridge Court in Clifton Park and Naples, Fla., entered into eternal life on Sunday, July 4, 2021. Born in Troy, he was the son of James W. and Katheryn Duffney Gillespie and the beloved husband for 57 years of Jeane M. Wood Gillespie, until her passing on February 22, 2013. Bob was a graduate of Waterford High School and earned his bachelor's degree and master's degree from Albany State University. Bob was a U.S. Army veteran and was bestowed the Sharpshooter (Rifle) and Good Conduct medals while serving as a military policeman. Bob spent his career as a pharmaceutical sales representative with Dow Chemical Company. Along with his family he also owned and operated the Sunset Banquet House as well as The Colonial Restaurant, both in Troy. He was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church in Clifton Park. Bob was the devoted father of David R. (Robin) Gillespie of Naples, Fla. and Scott D. (Diane) Gillespie of Dallas, Texas; brother of Ronald "Ronnie" (late, Marilyn) Gillespie of Waterford, Rodger (Helena) Gillespie of California and Edward (Aloma) Osterhout of North Carolina; cherished grandfather of Steven (Emily), Jacquelyn (Thomas McNulty), Michelle (Carter), Daniel (Taylor), Robert (Carrie), Jay and Kelly (Jamie); and great-grandfather of eight. Bob is survived by several nieces and nephews; and was also the brother-in-law of Elizabeth Stanton of Indianapolis, Ind. and Nancy Carter of Albany. The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 10, at 10 a.m. in St. George's Episcopal Church, 912 Rte. 146, Clifton Park with inurnment to be held in St. George's Church Columbarium, Clifton Park. There are no public calling hours. Those desiring, may make memorial contributions to a hospice program of their choice or to The Michael J.
