Robert Lansing Obituary

TROY Robert J. Lansing, 75, of Second Avenue, Lansingburgh, died Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at St. Mary's Hospital. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Edwin J. Lansing and Rosamond Bradley Lansing and beloved husband of Christine Howansky Lansing. A lifelong Troy resident, he was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, class of 1948. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1954. He worked for Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation for 41 years, retiring as a line mechanic in 1990. He was a life member of the Niagara Mohawk 25 year Club and Retirees Association. He was a retired member of the Troy Local of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union. He was also a member of the VFW #729 of Watervliet, American Legion Post #1881 of Troy, Northeast Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association in Troy, the Disabled American Veterans of Troy, where he served as gold leader of the Commanders Club, Germainia Hall Association, Crazy Horse Grass Roots Association, NENY Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation and a member and longtime patron of the Lansingburgh Boys and Girls Club. He was a communicant of St. Augustine's Church in Lansingburgh. Bob pursued his hobby of carpentry all of his adult life. He enjoyed traveling, swimming and bicycle riding. Survivors, in addition to his wife Christine, include a daughter, Christine Andreasen of Coral Springs, Fla.; two sons, Edwin J. Lansing (wife Dr. Cynthia Renauld-Lansing) of Albany and Robert J. Lansing Jr. (wife Gail) of Newburyport, Mass.; a brother, Edward J. Lansing (wife Valora) of San Benito, Texas; six grandsons, Michael, Christopher and Stephen Andreasen, all of Fla., Jeffrey and David Lansing of Newburyport and Brian Renauld of Albany; and several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by an infant daughter, Catherine R. Lansing. Funeral services will be at 9:00 a.m. Saturday from the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Ave., Lansingburgh and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Augustine's Church where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
