To all the Engelke Kids (Family),
I have no words that will help you at this time only memories and I join you in your sorrow. Your mom was a wonderful woman and she loved dearly. I remember when we were young and she had 7 kids and me every summer to try to keep busy. Thank God for monopoly. She moved from being a city-girl to a real country –mom and did it well. She moved into a tiny bit of a house and helped your dad build on until it housed you all comfortably. During these times she was raising all the kids, keeping house and being a wife and friend. Everything she did she did well. She was a great friend, to children and adults alike. Many times I know she tried to make peace with different battles that touched her life. As a child I loved her and as an adult I loved her. I may not be close and I regret that I can’t be with you now to help you all in this time of loss. I’m sorry that I also missed your father’s funeral and didn’t write to anyone or call. I have been going thru some stuff here but that is no excuse. They are together now and your dad is probably arguing with someone up there. As a kid he used to drive me crazy with his arguments but growing into an adult I realized he was loving you if he argued really hard with you. Teasing too but loving. Like I said – I only have memories but they are so special to have and keep. You all are in my heart and I am thinking about you with love and sorrow too. May you hold your memories dear.
Always,
Lee

Dear Engelke family - We remember so well the years your family attended the Methodist Church in Valley Falls, and celebrated with joy each new addition to your growing family. Time, moving locations and other interruptions caused us to lose contact, but we again met Rose and Bill at their lovely residence on Lake George about 8 years ago. And just about 5 weeks ago we met Rose again through her dear friend, Dot Rokjer at Eddy Heritage House where Dot and my husband, Melvin were in therapy. It was so good to see the ever smiling and happy Rose. What a great time of reminiscing. Our sympathy and love go out to each one of you in the loss of such a lovely lady. Our prayers are with you. God bless you all.
