Very sad to learn of Sam's passing. He was truly a gentleman and a friend for life. I knew him from Blessed Sacrement and Cardinal McCloskey. Lost touch over the years but will never forget his perpetual smile and good nature. May god bless and keep you Sammy.

Sam was along with John Klein the original volunteers who made the Albany County Victims Impact Panel a reality. He worked with Betty Martin and Anna Russo and Albany County STOP DWI program making sure ofenders respected victims.
Sam was an intial founder of the Annual March Against Drugs. He arranged for the first donation from the Iron Workers. He understood addictions and had a compassion for his fellow Iron Workers.Sam poineered the union EAP program in New York State.
He bore the scars of an early DWI crash in which he was a passenger .Sam was the back up speaker for VIP panels but only shared his story in private. His presence comforted all victims of DWI crashes and their families. They felt safe when he was around. He let others take the stage he helped build.

If when we pass on, others can write such glowing memorials. Sammy deserves every one. He was strong and kind but mostly he was a friend.
We who grew up together still feel a kinship wherever life takes us. You will be missed, Sammy.
My condolences to his family.

Sam was a wonderful role model. He played by the rules. I have four adult sons who watched Sam for many years at the YMCA and learned what hard work and dedication can do for you. No one will know on this side of life how many youths lives he positively influenced. We need more real men like Sam.

Sam was everyone's favorite customer at the Old Country Buffet but to me he was a close friend and I loved him very much. I'll always treasure the times we spent together doing the crossword puzzles, telling jokes and just talking about life in general. I have felt such a deep loss since he passed but I know that he is at peace now and I can take comfort in that. I'll miss you Sammy, thanks for being such a special friend to me.

To the Grimaldi Family,
I had the distinct pleasure of working with Sam in the late 80's early 90's. Sam and I became friends as well as colleagues. A true gentleman with a big heart and a generous spirit. May GOD bring him into his earned place in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Lenny Crouch

Very sorry to see that Sam has passed. He was a true "West Ender" and a great all around guy. I also add that he was a dedicated volunteer for the Albany County Stop-DWI Program for many years and he along with another rock in the community - the late Hon. Mike Burns lead and lent the support of the Ironworkers to many of Stop DWI's endeavors.

"They don't make many like that anymore!"

Rest in Peace Sam.
