Sarah Houghtaling Obituary
Houghtaling, Sarah Mary (Torre) WHITESBORO Mrs. Sarah Mary (Torre) Houghtaling, age 69, of Whitesboro, passed away peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital on Tuesday evening November 14, 2006 after a long illness. She was born in Albany, N.Y. to Veda and Catherine Motto Torre. On April 27, 1956, she married Ronald William Hough-taling, a blessed union of more than 50 years. She worked several part-time jobs in the area through the years, but her most important job was providing love and care to her family. Her favorites pastimes were playing bridge with her husband and friends, bingo and day trips to the casino with her daughter. Sarah also enjoyed making wonderful holiday meals for her family. Sarah was of the Catholic faith. She is survived by her loving husband, Ronald, who was always by her side; four sons and a daughter, Joseph (Debra Sherline) of New York City, Mark (Neil Herlands) of New York City, James (Allison) of Baldwinsville, Sharon (Richard Misterka) of Whitesboro and Ronald Jr. (Stacey) of So. Orange, N.J.; seven cherished grandchildren, Randi, Catherine "Katie" and Richard Misterka, Gregury and Jason Houghtaling, and Ronald III "Trey" and Michael Houghtaling. She is also survived by a very special sister-in-law, Jane Colan-gelo of Lima and her husband Bill; two nephews, William and Christopher Colangelo; and a much-loved friend, Linda Gozy. She also leaves behind many special bridge friends, whose company she has enjoyed greatly throughout the years. Sarah was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Verna. Her family would like to thank Dr. Bunn and Dr. LaFonte and their staffs for the care and compassion shown to her throughout her illness. Her family would also like to thank the fourth floor staff at St. Luke's Hospital and Hospice for taking such wonderful care of Sarah in her final days. Funeral at Saint Mary's, New York Mills Saturday 10:15 a.m. from the funeral home and 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, New York Mills.
