Sheldon Stuart Kramer

Kramer, Sheldon Stuart NISKAYUNA Sheldon Stuart Kramer, passed on October 21, 2017, after a long illness. Sheldon was born on January 26, 1941, in Brooklyn, to the late Benjamin and Ruth Kramer. He was a kind and gentle soul who treasured his family and friends. He enjoyed a good joke and had an infectious laugh. He liked old movies, sports, classical music and fine art. He received a bachelor's degree from Hunter College in statistics in 1962. He did graduate work at The New School for Social Research in Sociology. Shelly worked at the Department of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities as The Director of Employee Relations until his retirement in 1997. He went back to work at The Office of Management Confidential Employees (OMCE) until 2008. Sheldon is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Barbara Kramer; his children, April (Sean) Manning of Ellicott City, Maryland and Beth (Eric) Reed of Niskayuna. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sean, Morgan, Julia, Seth, Isabelle and Ezekiel. Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Ave., in Albany on Tuesday, October 24, at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in the Independent Benevolent Cemetery on Fuller Road in Albany. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sheldon's name to Congregation Gates of Heaven, 852 Ashmore Ave., Schenectady, NY 12309 or a charity of one's choice.
