Stephen Fabbie Obituary

Fabbie, Stephen J.
GLENMONT - Stephen J. Fabbie, 73 of Glenmont, passed away at home on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, after a long illness with his beloved wife Barbara at his side.
Stephen was born in Kingston and was the son of the late Frank and Cornelia Fabbie. He was employed with New York State Thruway Authority for 41 years before retiring from managing the Exit 24 toll plaza in Albany. After retiring, Steve was employed by Premiere Transportation in Albany as a driver and chauffeur and loved meeting people from all walks of life. He was a long-standing member of the Blanchard-Curry American Legion Post 1040. Steve loved life and especially bringing homemade Italian food to his co-workers, doctors' offices, local churches and friends. He and Barbara loved traveling to the Caribbean and vacationing in North Carolina.
Steve was the beloved husband of Barbara J. Covey Fabbie. He was the cherished father of Stephanie Reed and Scott (Holly) Fabbie of Chicago, and Joshua Fabbie of Ballston Spa; and stepdad of Stephen (Angela) Wilson of New Jersey. He was the adored grandfather of Dominic Reed, Anthony Reed, Stella Fabbie, Andrew Wilson, and Colin Wilson. Steve was the brother of Pamela Doran, Gregory (Mary) Fabbie, Barbara (Robert) Meehan, Monica (William) Moore, David Fabbie, and the late Frank Fabbie Jr. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
The family is deeply grateful for the loving, compassionate care given to Steve by his caregivers Jeremiah, Tanisha, Lakiyah, Laura, Kemiyah, and Sandra, who became his extended family.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Steve's family on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Delmar. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery, Selkirk.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Albany, 310 S. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY, 12208.

Ill never forget all of his golden opportunities he presented me with, whether it was through a phone call at 5 am or over the intercom asking me to stay for a double. And who can forget his shiny shoes!! I always looked forward to working a shift when he was on duty. He was always there to listen and hear about my life outside of work. He is going to be sorely missed by me and many.
