ALBANY - Stephen Halsey Orr, Jr., known as Chip, aged 43, of Albany, N.Y., passed away on February 18, 2025, at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital, following a hard-fought battle with multiple myeloma.
Born in Manhattan, and raised in New Rochelle, N.Y., Darien, Conn., and Loudonville, he was a graduate of Albany Academy, where he made many lifelong friends. At Hamilton College, he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon. He earned his Juris Doctorate at Albany Law School and was a skilled commercial and civil litigator, who maintained bar memberships in multiple states.
Chip was a natural-born athlete, who ran two marathons; a true foodie; a doting dog dad; and most importantly, a beloved husband, brother, uncle, son, and a kind and generous friend to many.
He is survived by his wife, Vanessa; his parents, Stephen and Jane; his sister, Jennifer Sensenbrenner (Joe); his brother, Peter (Kallie); his cherished dogs; and his nephews and niece.
Visitation will be held at Bowen & Parker Bros. Funeral Home on Friday, February 28, from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Loudonville Presbyterian Church on Saturday, March 1, at 11 a.m., with a reception to follow, at Schuyler Meadows Club. All who knew and loved Chip are invited to attend. Chip's absence has left a huge hole in our hearts. We will miss him forever.
