Stephen Treece Obituary

WATERVLIET - "For in their work, they find sustenance and grace."
Stephen Craig Treece entered this earthly realm on October 10, 1949, and departed from these earthly bounds, at age 75, on May 12, 2025.
Steve was the middle son of John Franklin Treece and Marguerite Smith Treece. He was a lifelong resident of Troy.
Steve attended the Lansingburgh School District schools, earned his GED while serving in the Navy, and later awarded a high school diploma from Troy High School.
Steve enlisted in the United States Navy in 1966, served in both the South China Sea and Mediterranean Sea theaters during the Vietnam War era and was honorably discharged in 1968. Always an adventurous soul, he once hitchhiked across this nation, spending time on the west coast.
Steve earned accolades as a reliably industrious worker, especially during his years working in the construction industry. More prominently, for four and a half decades, he was known as a master floor specialist and was always the first-called artisan to tackle large and complex carpet installations for contractors and notable homes. He was preeminent in this field.
His father, mother, and wife of five decades, Cindy Connell Treece, predeceased him. Surviving to cherish his memory are his son, Tyrome Treece; his brothers, Frederick (Skip) and Randolph (Randy) Treece; cousins, nieces, and loving in-laws.
Our special gratitude is extended to the healthcare professionals and staff at the Samuel Stratton Veterans Hospital for the loving and devotional care provided to Steve during his hours of need.
In honor of Steve, a celebration of his life will be held on May 22, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, 565 Fourth Avenue, Troy, N.Y., and he will be buried at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
