CLAVERACK - Susan Evans Koskey of Claverack died peacefully at home on October 1, 2023, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born on September 7, 1939, in Hudson, the daughter of Rowland Brown Evans and Dorothy Dreher Evans. She graduated from Greenport School, Hudson High School, and Green Mountain College. After college, Susan worked in personnel management at John G. Myers Company in Albany. She married Richard Koskey on May 2, 1964. For the next 20 years, she focused on raising her three daughters and supporting her husband. In 1984, Susan became co-owner of Willig & Brown, Inc. (W & B Golf Carts, Inc.) where she served as office manager for more than 25 years. Throughout her life she spent countless hours volunteering in the snack bar at Columbia Memorial Hospital; with the Hudson Junior Service League in the Nearly New Shop; and served on the Board of Managers and the Board of Trustees for the Hudson Home for the Aged. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Hudson for over 80 years, where she served many roles. She enjoyed playing tennis and bridge and having her home full of family.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Richard; her daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Scott Patzwahl of Claverack, Amy and Edward Kurja of South Hamilton, Mass., and Susanne and Alex Vogel of Dublin, N.H.; eight grandchildren, Taylor, Hannah, and Kyle Patzwahl, Olivia, Claire, and Jacob Kurja, and Otto and Piper Mae Vogel; her sister, Linda Drahushuk of Claverack; and her brother, Rowland Brown Evans of Castleton. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, C.H. Evans IV of Catskill.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, at Christ Church Episcopal in Hudson.
