Sylvia Bauersfeld Obituary

Bauersfeld, Sylvia SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. Sylvia Menia Bauersfeld passed away Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Saratoga Hospital surrounded by her loving family, just four days shy of her 65th wedding anniversary to her adoring husband, Charles. Born on March 10, 1926 in Cranberry Lake, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late John and Rena Doriguzzi Menia. Throughout most of her life, Sylvia was involved in church and community activities. She was a den mother for Cub Scouts, a Brownie leader, president of the Christ the King Altar Rosary Society in Guilderland, vicepresident of the Peabody Women's Republican Club during General Eisenhower's run and election for president (where she had the opportunity to meet Mamie Eisenhower and Pat Nixon) and volunteer for many other organizations. Sylvia devoted her life to her family whom she loved unconditionally and instilled family values in all of us. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Robert. In addition to her devoted husband, Charles; she is survived by her beloved children, William (Jill) Bauersfeld and Karen (Zeke) Collins; grandchildren, Kara Collins, Daniel (Valerie) Collins, Kristy Collins, David (Stephanie) Collins, AmyBeth (Matthew) Gibbs; her great-grandchildren, Dylan, Ethan and Abigail Collins and her extended family, Valerie Tran and Craig Plummer. We, the family of Sylvia, thank the Rubin Dialysis Center for keeping her with us for over three years after her kidney failure. She loved everyone on the staff, especially Dr. Rachid Daoui. We also thank the following doctors and their staff for such wonderful care: Dr. Desmond Del Giacco, Dr. Roland Phillips, Dr. Arthur Ostrov and Dr. Thomas Bailey. We would like to also thank the nurses and staff at Saratoga Hospital for their exceptional care and attention during Sylvia's illness. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2009 (her 65th wedding anniversary) at St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave. Burial will be private. At Sylvia's request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Rubin Dialysis Center, 59 Myrtle St. or Saratoga Hospital, 211 Church St. Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. To: Charley, Zeke, Karen and Family
We are sorry to hear of Sylvia's passing. She was a wonderful lady and I want you to know that she will be in our prayers. Our religion teaches us that now she is in a better place, sitting at God's right hand and watching over all of you. Our wish is for you and your family to have continued good health in the coming years. Zeke and Karen, please give a special hello to Charley for me. Thank you.
