Thomas Curit Obituary

Curit, Thomas DELMAR Thomas Roland Hutchins Curit, 64, of Delmar, died unexpectedly Thursday, July 23, 2009. He was born in Portsmouth, N.H., the son of the late Margaret (Beede) Hutchins Curit Neno and Willard Hutchins. He grew up in Maine and later resided in Ithaca, where he earned his B.S. degree from Ithaca College, and then his M.B.A. from Clarkson. He was employed as a CPA at several firms and later was the comptroller at the American Red Cross in Albany. During that time, he worked part time as a painter and decorator, and went on to be self-employed for many years in his successful business, Quality Wallpaper and Painting, before retiring two years ago. He enjoyed relaxing at many beaches, especially in Maine near the Nubble Lighthouse. He is survived by his former wife, Christiane Ellman Curit, who has remained his best friend and companion throughout; his two sons, Richard (Inga) of El Paso, Texas, Craig (Jintana) of Fresno, Calif. and their mother, Kathleen Curit of Saranac Lake; stepson, Andre Ellman of Albany; and three adoring, loving grandsons, Connor and Cullen Curit of Fresno, Janis Curit of El Paso, and step-grandson, Aiden Ellman of Albany. His two brothers also survive him, Neil (JoAnn) of Chandler, Ariz. and Scott (Paula) of Stuart, Fla.; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and the many friends who will miss his smiling face, kind heart and energy. Calling hours will be Tuesday 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, with a short service to follow and a private memorial at a later date at the Nubble Lighthouse in Maine, which was Tom's request. Craig & Dick: Although I haven't seen your dad in years, I was shocked to come across his obituary. Tom and I carpooled together when we worked for the Olympic Committee and I chuckle remembering how he always use to balance his toast on the console between the front seats when he picked me up (we were both living on Petrova at the time). He was the one who recommended me for the job at the hospital when the Olympics finished; a job I still hold almost 30 years later - it has been a wonderful career and one I probably would not have pursued if not for Tom's urging. We worked together there also, and I remember him as always being caring and upbeat. So sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you (your mother), and most especially your dad. May he rest in peace.

Dick and Craig,
I, too, share the loss of your Dad. He was always there for me to go to with problems or concerns, or just to share happy moments even at your ages. He always said, "We raised two great boys." Be assured that you two were his pride and joys. He was always the proudest Dad. Thanks for giving him the "treasures" of his life, Connor, Cullen, and Janis. He loved you all so much!
I, too, will pray that he rests in peace. Love, Mom

Wow, what to say. Well lets start with the fact that me and my family (Tana, Connor and Cullen) love you very much and that you will be dearly missed.
To take a line from my brother, Richard, I am also proud to be your son. In the busy lives we all lead we probably do not take the time to tell paople how much we care enough and I am guilty of this as well. I know you can hear me know and I hope that you did know how special of a father and grandfather you were.
I also reflect on how you would drive hours just to watch me play sports and how you were always proud of what we did. You also let us do what we thought was correct and were supportive of whatever choice we would make. We all have our faults and mistakes in life but the one thing I can honestly say is that your love for me was unconditional and nothing can taint that.
I will always remember the good times and only wish you were around longer to enjoy my boys as they grow ever to quickly into men. I will make sure your strong love and support lives on through me and my boys.
May you find peace and join your mom in a better place. I also vow to you to keep in better touch with the family as a whole. Time is to prescious not to.
In conclusion, much love and you will always be with me.

To my Dad, today at Ft.Bliss, TX the 11:00 AM mass was in your honor, memory and everlasting peace.
Dad, I always loved you so much, I wish I had told you more often. I know you loved all of your Sons and Grandsons more than anything. I will miss you, but you will still always be with me. I know you will always be looking down from heaven protecting us, as you did while you were here.
You were a great Dad. Looking back, I can't believe all the things you have done for me. No matter where I was deployed in the world, you would always send me letters and notes.
When we were children, you were always our hockey and baseball coach. I hope I can be as dedicated a parent to my children as you were.
But best of all times, the many years we went out cross country skiing, downhill skiing, and on the lake fishing and water skiing.
I am so proud to be your Son, I Love You!
You and our memories will always be with me.
Love Dick.

My heart is truly saddened beyond words that I will never hear Tom's little "giggle", feel his wonderful hugs or see his cheerful smile again. Tom was a very warm, generous, kind, thoughtful, sensitive and honest man. He loved to laugh and have fun. I will cherish all of the times we spent together. I know how much he loved his family, as he talked about each of you often. I know that he is in God's hands now with his Mother, whom he missed and loved dearly.
