Thomas F. Purcell Sr.

Purcell, Thomas F. Sr. WAYLAND, Mass. Thomas F. Purcell Sr., 89, died November 7, 2007 in Wayland, Mass. Tom was born in Valatie, N.Y. and attended Albany High School. He worked for Albany Felt Company before World War II. He was a major in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a B24 pilot with the 389th Bomb Group. He received two Purple Hearts and was a POW at Stalag Luft III. Tom was a member of the Mendelssohn Club and the Albany Junior Chamber of Commerce. He worked for Autocar and Allis Chalmers before moving his family to Wellesley, Mass. Thomas was a resident of Wellesley for more than 40 years. Tom was the beloved husband of the late Helen (Fleming) Purcell. He is survived by his sister, Frances (Purcell) Day of Albany, N.Y.; and Albany area nieces and nephews. He is also survived by five children, as well as seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
