Tracey Leibach Obituary

Leibach, Tracey M.
TROY - Tracey M. Leibach passed away at home and joined those she loved on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the age of 61. Tracey was born on April 17, 1963, in Troy, N.Y., and was the daughter of the late Stephen C. and Mary Jean (Tracey) Leibach. She grew up in Watervliet, where she graduated in 1981 from Watervliet High School. Tracey later graduated from Syracuse University, where she majored in journalism. Upon graduation, Tracey returned home and took employment, as an editor, with Metroland Magazine in Albany, and for the past 32 years, has served as Director of Periodicals and Editorial Content at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy. Tracey loved life and will be remembered for her generous spirit, her selflessness, her devotion to her family and friends and her sense of humor and ability to laugh with others. She found purpose and happiness in volunteering to Sidewalk Warriors Troy and she lived her best life at the family camp on Sacandaga Lake, where Tracey experienced relaxation with her family and created many happy memories. Tracey was the loving sister of David Leibach of Watervliet, Stephen Leibach and his wife, Tina Proctor-Leibach of Watervliet, and Kathleen Leibach of Clifton Park; cherished aunt of Emma, Braeden, Karina and Julia Leibach. She shared a maternal bond with Sean, Dylan, Ian, and Chelsea; and was the best friend for life to Mark, Lisa and Teresa. Tracey is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. Friends are invited to visit with Tracey's family at the Parker Bros. Memorial, in Watervliet, on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 4 until 7 p.m. A prayer service by the Reverend Edward Kacerguis will conclude the evening at 7 p.m. The Rite of Committal and interment will be held on Saturday, at 11 a.m., in Albany Rural Cemetery. Those attending are requested to gather inside the cemetery's "south gate," located at Rte. 378 and Van Rensselaer Blvd., at 10:45 a.m. In lieu of customary remembrances, donations may be made to Sidewalk Warriors Troy, 22 Morningside Dr., Latham, N.Y. 12110, in memory of Tracey M. Leibach. Messages of condolence may be shared with Tracey's family by visiting www.parkerbrosmemorial.com

I am still shocked to recently see Tracey´s obituary! It doesn´t seem possible. She had such a beautiful heart with such a longing to love and be loved. I wish I could still reach out to her! I have many fun, happy memories with her and loved her very much. I hope your heart is immensely full now, my favorite roommate!

I am stunned to hear of Tracey's passing. I did some writing for her at Rensselaer years ago and appreciated her spirit in addition to her skill at framing and editing any piece of writing. My condolences to the family.

I worked with Tracey for more than 35 years as a freelance photographer for the Rensselaer alumnae magazine. I always looked forward to those days. It seemed like everyone on that campus knew her, and Liked and respected her. Even after I retired, we stayed in touch. I'll miss her deeply - she had a spark.

Tracey was the most loving person, the Paulsen family was very lucky to have her in the family. She will be missed by many. Give hugs to Uncle Artie when you see him.

Our hearts are hurting, Tracey made a huge impact with Sidewalk Warriors Troy, not only contributing and purchasing but her smile, her heart and her commitment was something we saw weekly. She often pulled up and popped her trunk with purchased goods and when unable to shop, she sent funds. She loved Sidewalk Warriors Troy. We post often and we could always count on Tracey posting a beautiful message of support. We will miss you at so many levels and know you are truly in our hearts forever!
