Truman June Obituary

June, Truman R. "Harry" CATSKILL Truman R. "Harry" June, 95, of Catskill passed away, surrounded by his loving family, on September 19, 2017. He was born in Athens, a son of the late William and Lulu Bogardus June. A graduate of St. Patrick's Academy, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He served as a cryptographer for the 318th Signal Company and was then assigned to the 12th Air Force in North Africa and Sicily, Italy. Corporal June was honorably discharged with four Battle Stars at the end of the war. Harry married Joyce Pfeil on October 12, 1947. He worked at Endicott Johnson and then moved to Central Hudson for 37 years as chief gas mechanic. After retirement he drove the The Arc of UlsterGreene. He was a life member of the Hose Co. No. 1 and the Catskill Fire Department, former district chief, board of directors and financial secretary. Harry belonged to the Greene County V.F.A. and Hudson Valley V.F.A. He was a member of the Catskill United Methodist Church and American Legion. He coached minor league baseball, was a leader of Explorer Scouts, coached women's softball and played "Old Timers League" softball. An avid bowler, he belonged to the Central Hudson Sparks and was an avid NY Yankee fan. Loving husband of 70 years to Joyce P. June; father of R. Thomas June (Sherri) of Palenville, John P. June (Carol) of Catskill, Robert W. June (Jonelle) of Athens and George P. June (Audry) of Coeymans; grandfather of Michael T. (Melissa) June of Plantsville, Conn., Rebecca S. (Scott) Dion of Amsterdam, Ryan B. (Katrina) June of Hampton Beach, N.H., Breanna L. (Daniel) Vollaro of Hyde Park, N.Y., Jodie L. (Eric) Brocollo of Middletown, Va., Jonas A. (Victoria) June of Manalaplan, N.J., Timothy D. (Briana) June of Coxsackie, Benjamin R. June of Athens, Samuel D. June of Athens, James T. June of Coeymans and Aaron R. June of Florence, Italy; great-grandfather of Mikayla, Mia, Ryan, Stella, Ethan, Erin, Julia and Olivia; brother of the late Jenny Mae Bogardus, Philip A. Smith, Margaret Lyons Adams, William, Joseph and Edward Lyons, and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 3-5 and 6-8 at Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home, 139 Jefferson Hgts., Catskill. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Catskill United Methodist Church, 40 Woodland Ave., Catskill. Interment, with military honors by Honeyford Memorial Post #110, American Legion, in Town of Catskill Cemetery. Contributions, in Harry's memory, may be made to Leatherstocking Honor Flight, P.O.
