Vincenzo "Jim" Viscanti

Viscanti, Vincenzo "Jim" PHOENIX Vincenzo Viscanti "Jim", 99 of Phoenix, Ariz., passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 27, 2021, a month shy of his centennial. Jim was predeceased by both, Lillian, best friend and devoted wife of 61 years; and son, Steven. He is survived by his sisters, Giovana, Rose, and Mary; his sons, Dennis, Mark (wife Gail), and Vincent (wife Dee); daughter-in-law, Danna; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Born in Brooklyn, Jim was first generation American. He saw combat with the 88th Infantry division, Blue Devils, in the North African and Italian campaigns of World War II, earning a Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts. After the War, Jim worked on the railroad for the U.S. Postal Service, and eventually retired in 1983, living 58 years in the Albany and Colonie area. In 2012, he had retired to a quieter life at the Atria Senior Living Center in Chandler, Ariz. Jim enjoyed bowling, bocce, square dancing and a large variety of card playing resulting in the cultivation of many lifelong friendships. He was a member of The Veterans of Foreign War, The American Legion Joseph E. Zaloga Post, the West Albany Italian Benevolent Society, the Colonie Elks Lodge, and the Elks & Does Square and Round Dance Club. Interment will be alongside his wife Lillian, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Ariz.
