Walter Bassey Obituary
BRUNSWICK - Walter R. Bassey, 80 of Lockrow Road, died on Thursday, November 24, 2022, at his residence surrounded by loved ones after a brief illness.
Born and raised in Queens, Walter was the son of the late John A. and Catherine Heffernan Bassey. As a young man after his time in the Navy, Walter traveled the country on his motorcycle, living in Florida to Long Island. He then settled in Brunswick (Eagle Mills) in 1976. Walter was and electrician by trade and worked for many years at Flex Electric in Watervliet retiring in 2012. Walt enjoyed hiking the Appalachian Trail, camping, the outdoors and especially watching football. He was a longtime fan of the N.Y. Giants. Walt enjoyed helping at his son's business.
Survivors include his children, Alexander (Alicia)Bassey of Brunswick and Terri (Bill) Schmoger of Long Island; his longtime companion, Adrian Dortic of Brunswick; a brother, Jack Bassey of Bellmore, N.Y.; and his grandchildren, Alex, Bella and CiCi Bassey and Wyatt Lewis, Billy and Skyler Schmoger.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel Inc., 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake, Averill Park, followed by a service at 3 p.m.
The family suggests donations in memory of Walter R. Bassey be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY, 12204.

I knew Walter for many years. I worked with Flex Electric from Rensselaer to Albany and he was always so nice to me. May he rest in peace and God Bless you all at this difficult time.
