Ehlers, Walter Francis COHOES Walter Francis Ehlers, son of Edward Ehlers and Mary Vaughan Ehlers, born October 11, 1925, passed away on August 9, 2018. Walter was predeceased by cherished siblings, Edward, Gertrude and Dorothy; and his beloved wife Joyce. Walter is survived by daughter Mary Ellen Ehlers (Fred Venditti), son Robert Ehlers (Laurie) and daughter Ardith Cork (Glenn). Walter "pop pop" was a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Walter, a proud World War II veteran and graduate of Fordham University, excelled for 40 years as a photo editor for United Press International in New York City. Walter, with the camera around his neck at every family event, took joy in spending time with family and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff at Marjorie Doyle Rockwell and Eddy Village Green # 12 for their kind and compassionate care. Funeral services to be held on Sunday, August 12, at the Mangano Funeral Home, Deer Park, N.Y. Funeral Mass in Saint Cyril and Methodius Church, Monday August 13, at 10:15 a.m.
