Bill was a great person and always had a smile. He loved being around the kids and coaching, you could see it in his face and the kids kept him young. I worked with Bill for a short time in the 90's at the Averill Park High School. My family will never forget what a nice guy he was. Our prayers are with all of you and I know how much he will be missed by everyone.

Sincerely,
Sandy, Bob Bedian & family

He helped me enjoy playing tennis more and was a good teacher as well as a friend despite only talking a few times after he stopped being my tennis coach. I will never forget him or what he did.

Coach Bill was the person who introduced me to tennis as the coach of the JV Boys tennis team. He was a model of patience and caring, and was always there for the team, and for me. I'll remember how good he was to all of us, and I am sorry for your loss.

Coach Collopy was a wonderful, and an extremely patient man. He was also my tennis coach, and I knew nothing on that first day of practice. Like Sabrina said, I will always remember "sideways" when I turn to hit the ball. The news of his passing is very, very sad. My thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

November 4, 2010

To Pat and Family, I can still hear that nice soft voice taking my calls on the phone. I will miss Bill. Kappy

Tennis became a huge part of my career, and if anyone deserves credit for this it's Coach Collopy. He ran countless drills and spent countless hours improving each and every one of us. I'll never forget him making me yell 'sideways' before I hit the ball so that I'd have the proper form. He always had a smile on his face, and offered endless amounts of encouragement. He was an asset to Averill Park High School and will truly be missed. My heart goes out to his family
