William Friedel Obituary

MALTA William J. Friedel, 68, of Lakeside Dr., passed away Thursday, March 9, 2006 at his residence, surrounded by his family. Born and educated in Troy, he was son of the late Leopold and Eva Swint Friedel and was husband of Mary E. Stacey Friedel. William served in the U.S. Air Force, was a veteran of the Vietnam War and retired after 20 years of service. He worked for 15 years at NYNEX in Troy, where he was known as Wild Bill. He retired in 1994. He was a member of the Troy Local of the Communications Workers of America and the American Legion. Survivors in addition to his wife Mary, include his children, Debbie Andrews of Schuylerville and Gary Friedel and his wife Lisa of Troy; his grandchildren, Amy and Joseph Andrews and Chelsea Friedel; his nephews, Thomas and Stephen Urbanski; and his niece, Donna Paruszkiewicz. Funeral services will be Monday at 12:30 p.m. at the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rt. 32), Waterford with Rev. Stephen Butler Murray officiating. Interment will be in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Monday prior to the service from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Charlton-Freehold Presbyterian Church in care of the funeral home office.
