William Mehleisen Obituary

Mehleisen, William C. ALBANY William C. Mehleisen, 87, of Albany, died Sunday, May 16, 2010 at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home. Mr. Mehleisen was born in Albany and lived here all his life. He was a graduate of the Philip Schuyler High School, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific. He was awarded the Bronze Star. He was employed by W.W. Grainger, International Harvester, and N.Y. state prior to his retirement. He was a communicant of the former St. Margaret Mary's Church, and a member of the Elks Lodge #49, the Bucci McTague Post, and the American Legion. Mr. Mehleisen is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Dorothy M. Hart Mehleisen; his sons, William and his wife Pat of Colonie, and John of Albany; his sister, Madalen Mitchell; his sister-in-law, Kathryn Ravida; his cousin, Beatrice Walsh; his grandchildren, William and Daniel Mehleisen, and Thomas Mehliesen and his fiancee Samantha, Christopher and John Mehleisen; his great-grandchildren, Brandon Dylan and Arianna; and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three other siblings. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Nadine, Shannon, Gena, Mandy and their staff, and to Ann, Kathy, Bob and Mary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday morning at 9:30 in All Saints Catholic Church (formerly St. Margaret Mary's Church), Homestead St., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Northeastern Association of the Blind, 301 Washington Ave., Albany, NY 12206.
