Blanche Gorman Obituary

GORMAN Blanche Rawls Gorman, 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Sunday morning, September 22, after a long illness. She was born in Waldo, Florida, to the Rev. Langley A. Rawls and Ella Rooks Rawls. As a ministers daughter, she was active in many Baptist churches during her life, including St. Johns Park Baptist Church, Trinity Baptist Church, Arlington Baptist Church, and more recently, Murray Hill Baptist Church. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, R. Maines and Frederica Rawls of Brentwood, TN; her son and daughter-in-law, C. Rodney and Marilyn G. Gorman; her daughter and son-in-law, Wayne E. and Pamela Gorman Tutt; 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Gorman, Jr., her parents, Rev. Langley A. and Ella Rawls, her sister, Agnes Donia Rawls and her brother, James L. Rawls. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1931 and attended Jones Business College. During her working career, she was employed by the Jacksonville Journal, the Internal Revenue Service, and she retired in 1981 from the accounting department after 27 years service with the Duval County School System. She was devoted to her family and friends, and her contagious laugh will be missed by all that knew her. Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 25, from 6 to 8 PM at the HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME at 729 Edgewood Ave. Her funeral service will be at 2 PM, Thursday, September 26, at Murray Hill Baptist Church, 4300 Post Street. Interment will follow at RIVERSIDE MEMORIAL PARK at Normandy Blvd. and Interstate 295. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in her name to Murray Hill Baptist Church, or to the Church of your choice. Please sign the Guestbook at Jacksonville.com
