Carl Douglas Obituary

DOUGLAS Carl E. Douglas, 84, passed away on Friday, January 1, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy 'Dot' Douglas. Mr. Douglas served his country during World War II in the United States Navy. He retired from the City of Jacksonville in 1986, but continued to remain very active. He was an avid farmer, hunter and fisherman, a Mason, and a member of the Oceanway VFW Post # 11406. Mr. Douglas was also a member of Dinsmore Baptist Church for 52 years where he served as a deacon since 1969. Other survivors include his sons, Dallas Douglas (Teresa) and Richard Douglas; sisters, Betty June Twigg (Trevor) and Sarah Frances Grider (Dwight); three granddaughters, Tiffiny Douglas Safi (Omar), Tammy Lynn Douglas and Stacy M. White; and five great grandsons, Johnathan White, Coleman Safi, Tyler Douglas, Anthony Douglas, and Dylan Safi. He was preceded in death by 5 sisters and 1 brother. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 5th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Ave. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 6th at Dinsmore Baptist Church with Dr. E. Winson Butler officiating. Interment will be at 1:00 PM, on the day of the service, at Jacksonville National Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully requests donations to The Hemophilia Foundation of Greater Florida, 1350 North Orange Avenue, Winter Park, FL 32789-4955.
