Connie D. Parker, 87, of Orange Park, Florida passed away peacefully at the Haven Hospice Custead Care Center in Orange Park, Florida on August 28, 2020, after a long battle with degenerative dementia. Connie was born on November 26, 1932, and spent his youth in Chester, South Carolina. At the age of 17, Connie joined the United States Navy and achieved the Naval rank of Chief Boatswain's Mate. Connie was a veteran of both the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
After retiring from the Navy, Connie settled in Jacksonville, Florida, and began his second career as a Warehouseman for Carolina Freight. Connie enjoyed traveling in his R.V and listening to Bluegrass, Folk, and Country music, often combining these two loves by traveling in his RV to Bluegrass festivals around the Southeast. Connie also developed a passion for photography and spent many happy hours perfecting his talents and providing his family with much-cherished photo albums filled with memories.
Connie is survived by his brother, Edward Parker of Chester, SC, his sister, Rita Parker Melton (Jerry) of Roanoke, VA, his son, Glenn "Bubba" Parker, (Karen) of Lake City, FL, his daughters Shirley Parker Fiano (Tony) of Jacksonville, FL, and Yvonne Parker Pickett (Davy) of Jacksonville, FL, his wife, Penny Parker of Orange Park, FL, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Connie is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Virginia Hennesee Parker of Chester, SC, his brothers, William Stanley Parker and James Richard Parker, his sisters Frances Parker Jackson and Virginia Parker Neely Blackmon, and his grandson, Anthony (T.J.) Fiano, II. Connie is interred at the Jacksonville National Cemetery in Jacksonville, FL
