KENYON Dana Bradford Kenyon, 68, went home to be with the Lord November 7, 2002, after a determined struggle with pulmonary fibrosis. Dana was born June 30, 1934 in Norfolk, VA, and moved to Florida with his family while still a young child. He was graduated from Robert E. Lee High School where he was president of his senior class, captain of the track team, a letterman on the football team and was named outstanding graduate. He next enrolled at the University of Florida and, while there, was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, Army R.O.T.C., and Sigma Delta Chi Journalism fraternity. He graduated in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the infantry of the Army Reserve. He was immediately called for active duty for a two-year tour and was posted to the training command at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. On his discharge, he stayed in the active Army Reserve for an additional 6 years and was promoted to Captain of Infantry during that time. In 1960 he began a career in the general construction business, learning at his fathers side. He later founded the Dana B. Kenyon Construction Company and was privileged to be selected for such clients as the St. Joe Company, N.G. Wade Investment Company, CSX, Winn Dixie and PGA among others. Dana retired form the business in 1997 and among other activities enjoyed traveling abroad. On a recent trip to France, he fulfilled a boyhood dream and walked the beaches of Normandy. Dana was an avid reader of biographies and historical novels and was a knowledgable WWII scholar. Dana enjoyed working with Little League, acting with Orange Park Community Theater and being active in the Meninak Club. He was a dedicated Christian and a member of the Mandarin Presbyterian Church where he served as Elder, Trustee and Chairman of the Building Committee. His family was his pride and the source of his greatest joy. He attended numerous recitals and athletic activities of his children and grandchildren and could always be found beaming in the first row. He is predeceased by his parents, Lucille Perry Kenyon and Earle Charles Kenyon. He leaves behind his beautiful wife of 46 years, Ann Manry Kenyon, who was also his high school sweetheart. He also leaves a daughter, Dawn Kenyon (Lindsay) Sims; sons, Matthew Earle (Rita) Kenyon, Andrew Manry (Rachel) Kenyon; grandchildren, Marisa Kenyon, Dana Kenyon, Matthew Kenyon, Sarah Sims, Emma Sims, Stewart Sims, Cameron Kenyon, Andrew Kenyon, and little Ellie Kenyon. He is also survived by his sister, Claire Kenyon (Jerry) Byrnes; brothers, Jerome G. (Ann) Kenyon; Leslie J. Kenyon and thirteen loving nieces and nephews. Dana also leaves behind his dear sister-in-law, Barbara Manry (Larry) Loesch and brother-in-law, Daniel S. Manry, Jr. A visitation will be held Sunday, November 10, 2002 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the east campus of Mandarin Presbyterian Church. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 11, 2002 in the church sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mandarin Presbyterian Church Building Fund or the charity of your choice. While Dana left an indelible mark in the community, it is his commitment to his family and friends that is his legacy. Arrangements under the direction of HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME in Mandarin. I could never express to you what a blessing it has been to share part of my life with you. I still feel like a part of the Kenyon family even though our paths have since parted. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of great sorrow.
Take heart, this parting with Dana is your last. We will all be reunited one day in the glory of Heaven ... and what a joyous day that will be!
Dana left such a huge mark on all of the lives he touched, including mine, and I am very honored that I had the chance to know him.
I thank my God upon every rememberance of you. Phillipians 4:13

Dear Ann and Family;
The news of Dana's passing is a great shock to us. When we wisited with you last year, Dana appeared to be a picture of good health. In fact, he looked as if he had not aged at all since we were young. Our memories of Dana will always be how he appeared the last time we were together. Dana will be also remembered in our prayers.

Dearest Ann,
Only the fact that I am in my bed awaiting surgery on my low back kept me from being with you in these trying moments.
Dana knew the odds and that in the end he could not win the biggest game he encountered, Life. He did the best anyone could do in the alternative.
It is a foolish statement, but bears repeating; If there is anything I can do, please call.

To Dana Kenyon's Family,
Dana was a very wonderful person and I remember him as a class mate and part of our track team and in the Senior Class Vodvil. He will be missed by many.
I saw Dana last August at our 50th class re-union. It was the first one that I had a chance to attend.
You have my deepest condolences and may our God bless you according to His riches in glory.

Dearest Ann and family,
It has been my privilege to know your family since coming to work for Dana Kenyon Company in the 1980's. Dana, a precious, kind gentleman will be greatly missed by all of us. Knowing, he knew the Lord Jesus as His Savior brings me more joy than I could express and I look forward to seeing him again in Heaven. Though our days here are numbered, eternity will be forever. Ann, like I told you and Dana both you should give marriage seminars, you had a relationship many of us only dream about. The kindness and respect you had for each other was so prevelant. I know your heart is aching, lean heavy on the Lord for He loves you so much. Sandy and I keep you and yours in our prayers at this time of great loss. We love you.

Dana and I first met in ROTC Classes at U of F where we became good friends. Later in our careers our paths crossed many times. He as a contractor and me as an architect. I was really hurting when I learned of his illness and I was determined to see Dana. Last Thursday I met Dawn and visited with her. Dana has a beautiful and smart daughter and I thank her for her few monments of kindness at the hospital. To Ann, Dawn, the Boys and family, I am sorry for your loss.

My prayers and wishes for your comfort in yours days of sorrow.
Claire, I idolized you in 1949-1950 "Gilbert's" glee club and frequently recall your beautiful voice. I was not well acquainted with Dana or others of your family, but I lived a few blocks from Mother Lucille at Altoona/Pittman. Now retired, I can get to Jax and visit and share with some of "Gilbert's Girls". I've heard nothing but wonderful things about Dana and I regret that I was not well acquainted with him. I will share a paraphrase from a writing I can't find just now but we always ask, "why God, why did this happen to such a wonderful person"? the answer; "God only wants the best".

Our dearest Ann and family,
We learned of Dana's illness and death only this morning and our hearts go out to you and all of the family. We can only believe and trust that Dana and our Mothers are in heaven today and together probably building something to prepare for all of us to join at our time!! I can almost hear the laughter from them enjoying each other.
Ann, we plan to come to Florida for Thanksgiving. We'll give you a call and hope to see you then.
Know you are loved, so much. Always.
