Paul, Becky, Jane, Cynthia and Allyson.
Thank you for the fine man you all had a part in creating. His legacy to all his family and friends will be with us forever. David was the best friend any of us could have hoped for in this life. We are honored to have had him as a friend. His God given talents were used to there fullest in every part of his life. He left a little piece of himself to each and everyone of us. We hope for his family they find comfort in the words of love that have been expressed by so many. David was a shining example to all of us of how to give love with no strings attached. Our hearts go out to each one of you in your loss.

My prayers and love to the family and fellow friends of Dave. I met Dave when he was playing with Apostle and starting to come to SCC back in the '80s. We shared an apartment on Redwing St. for a short time and worked together with Bruce often. I enjoyed his energy, intelligence, and sense of humor. I didn't see enough of him in recent years, but I will still miss him.

David was truly my best friend, never in my life did I have that one person I could call at 3:00am and say help me and they would come... until Dave. He helped me in a time in my life when I was at my lowest, a few years back . He introduced me to some of his favorite people and friends. I talked to Dave every week, usually on a Friday when he was at Walmart buying a DVD. He would want to know what to get because, "Dave don't rent!!!" How I am going to miss those conversations. We would have lunch 2 or 3 times a month, how I will miss eating the Chinese Buffets he loved so much. I will miss, "Hey I need a favor." finding it was 800 lb pieces of furniture he needed lugged into a mansion in Queen's Harbour. And the Five star meals he would create at his house for me and my son and then with my new family. Dave loved God and he was truly blessed. I saw many miracles in his life that were only achieved through his faith. There will never be another like David Mckee. I loved him like a brother and can't wait to see him again after this life is over.

I still can't believe the call that I received today!
David came into my life in October as we were both artists working on the restoration of The Stetson Mansion in DeLand, Fl. I remember that day clearly.
He was sitting on the tub while I completed the walls in a bathroom. We talked for hours and then stayed in touch via email and on the phone.
What an amazing artist and man he was ... so very, very kind.
David was so excited to be demonstrating at Salon this year. I just sent an email to the host of this years Salon.
I will be attending the days open to public this year.
I have some digital photos of David's work that I will be taking with me.
I would love to include more photos. Here is my email: [email protected]
I look back on it now and am thankful for the brief few months that I knew him.

Its with such disbelief and heartfelt sadness that I have received such news. I was just thinking about him being in Chicago at Salon, I didn't know he never made it. His acceptance in Salon was a tribute to his God-Given talent of artistic abilities that really showed how blessed he was. His gift was so incredible to those of us in awe, but he was so humble and would act embarrassed if I made too much fuss! David used to call me to come and see his projects, ask my thoughts (I was so honored that he would even ask me a question), and then he would give me a tissue to wipe away the drool from admiring his work. I invited him to go to the Stetson Mansion and do a mural which is truely one of the highlights of the tour when you see it. He was passionate about God, painting, his dogs, (lamas), mowing and being a good friend. I wish I could have had one more hug and one more wall to drool over. I'm sure he is in Heaven and I am certain the sunset last night must have had his hand at it. See you on the othe side Dave. Love Katrina O'Nan

Dear Paul, Jane, and Family:
I have been your neighbor now for 7 years, and you've always been so kind and friendly when we pass hellos, smiles, greetings, and comments. You care for your pets and have a love for animals much like myself. I am so sorry to hear of your loss, and please contact me if there is anything I can ever do for you, especially these next few weeks. I am here for you, and don't hesitate to give me a holler. I regret never getting to meet your son, I'm sure he was a lovely person, as he was no doubt cut from your wonderful demeanor and disposition. My heart goes out to you and I know that God will be watching over you today, and in the months to come.
With sympathy,

David McKee was a son to me. I met him 18 years ago and he quickly became a part of my fmaily. His smile was beautiful and his laugh contagious. He loved life to the fullest. I was there when he was a drummer and one of the best I might add and also with his artwork, there was no comparison. He was passionate about his work and wanted to be recognized for what he loved, his painting. He was so excited and proud when he achieved being world renowned, but at the same time he was still Dave. I am honored to say I have two of his paintings and I cherish them. He talked about his friends, who were many and he loved them all with his whole heart. There was a special place in his heart for each of his friends and he was always there for them. I was there for laughter and for tears as well.
His love of God was greater than everything else. He was sincere about his faith and his walk with the Lord. He was a big brother to my daughters and someone special to my grandson. When Tara would want to go to a concert, I would tell her if Dave can go you can. He was always there for her and was so handsome at her wedding. Kind of like a guardian angel. Well, now that is exactly what he is. Now he can look after all of his family and friends.
My heartfelt sympathy goes to his Mom, Dad and Sisters. I truly understand your loss. He was an amazing young man who left us far too soon.

DAVID PAUL MCKEE THE GREATEST GIFT TO US ALL.
A humble but colorful person that was really larger than life. His arms always open and his heart never closed. Everyone that new him had a very special place in his heart and he made each and every person feel as though they were #1. He is the most endearing soul I have ever met. He is my best friend, My love for him is deep. For so many years we shared so much. My heart goes out to his family. And I thank you Becky, Cynthia, and Rena for making me a part of the family.
David's dream was to be as talented as the most renowned artist of the world. He was that and so much more. His work mesmerized me. I would tell him he was the most incredible artist I had ever laid my eyes upon. The depth... The detail... The creativity.
He would promptly tell me "Layne I'm not an artist, I'm a Decorative Painter." Ha!

Les and I have known Dave for 24 years. He taught my children ( who are now grown) art and I credit him with their appreication and love for art. The passion he had for using his GOD given talents was something rarely seen. He was one of the best drummers in his younger days and the best artist up until his death. Our family will miss him greatly but take hope in his live for Jesus and his walk with HIM.

Dave was a rockin drummer! He and Matt (Apostle) inspired me to write songs about Jesus to a non-churchy beat. 21 years later I'm still doing just that. He also taught my brother how to be a better drummer and pushed him to learn double bass. He was like a brother to me as well , and will be greatly missed. I encourage us all to use our talents for God's glory; inturn the next generation will benefit from it. Thanks Dave!

David was one of the best examples of someone who strove to be a good Christian. He loved God as well as all that God created (even the spitting llamas) and taught me quite a few things about being a Christian. He was a faithful member at St. Luke's MCC in Jacksonville, FL and I am so saddened to hear of the passing of a truly wonderful man. If I can help in ANY way, please let me know.

I met David nearly 14 years ago when I joined the Bold City Schutzhund Club (dog training) in Jacksonville. We've been close friends ever since. From our mutual love of dogs, music and yes... bar-b-queue (we met for Sonny's most every two weeks), we had a lot in common. David had a love for life and a passion like no other for painting. He was always there for me, or anyone in need, asking nothing in return. When my mother passed 7/07, he was there for me offering his support and asking what he could do.
David, you will be sorely missed, but I will try, as you once said, to celebrate your life... Not mourn your passing.
With love,
David Neal
