HUTTON Capt. Edward G. Hutton (USN-Ret.), DDS, 89, Fleet Landing, Atlantic Beach, Florida Edward G. Hutton, 89, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2012, at Beaches Baptist Hospital, Jacksonville Beach, Florida with his granddaughters, Dr. Adrienne Hutton Singleton, M.D. and Ms. Melissa Jane Hutton, BSN, at his side. Born on September 4, 1922, in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of Edward Thurlow Hutton and Anna Dillmuth Hutton. Edward grew up as a Great Depression child, an experience that instilled in him the values of hard work, frugality, sacrifice for family, and loyalty to country and community. As a teenager he helped support his family by cleaning coal dust-coated walls in neighborhood homes. He earned an associate s degree at Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, PA, and a DDS at the University of Pittsburgh in an accelerated U.S. Navy war program. After serving for several years on active duty, Edward entered private dental practice in Mt. Lebanon, PA. Several years later he re-activated his commission in the U.S. Navy in which he proudly served until his retirement in February 1980. Edward was a proud member of the ATO Fraternity and a master in the Honorable Fraternity of Free and Accepted Masons of Pennsylvania. Edward enjoyed camping and water skiing with his family, and later in life he was an active traveler, first with trailer camping and then on cruises and Elderhostel excursions. In his early years Edward was an avid dancer, with the jitterbug his specialty dance. While living at Fleet Landing, he enjoyed singing, bridge, bowling, and horseshoes, and one year won the Fleet Landing Senior Olympic championship in horseshoes. Edward was pre-deceased by his spouses Jane Lander Hutton (1974) and Virginia Ginny Dobyns Hutton (2011). He is survived by his sons Todd S. Hutton of New Hartford, NY, and Edward T. Hutton II ( Ted ) of Trussville, AL; their spouses, Jen Hutton and Debbie Hutton; stepchildren, Loa Perkes of Danville, CA, and David Dipboye of Edgewood, WA, and his wife Peggy Dipboye; granddaughters Adrienne Singleton of Greenville, NC, and Melissa Hutton of Gainesville, FL; step-grandsons Tad and Brian Gonzalez; and two great-grandchildren Megan and Carter Singleton of Greenville, NC. A Celebration of Life for friends, family, and Fleet Landing staff will be held at the Fleet Landing Community s Windward Hall, Atlantic Beach, FL at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2012.
