Mr and Mrs. Funchess,

Emmie was a dear friend and I recently heard about her passing. I talked with her briefly while I was in Jacksonville. She was on her way to the airport and was going to call upon her arrival back to Jax. She informed me of her illness at that point. I am sorry for your loss. She was a beautiful person and I wish we had more time after High School. I will truly miss her.

Dear Funchess Family,

I worked with Emmie several years ago at Theatreworks. Emmie was an inspiration to all that met her.

I remember being amazed at her strong work ethic and her knowledge of accounting skills at such a young age. She was an extremely competent young lady.

Her beautiful smile and laugh was certainly a wonderful addition to that office.

Emmie often spoke of her parents and Brian as well as her brother. She loved you all and it was evident that you all loved her.

I'm sorry to say that when I left Theatreworks I also lost track of everyone there.

Please know that I cannot imagine what your family has gone through. I do know that God will see you through and that Emmie wants nothing but happiness for you all. That was Emmie's way.

Please accept my deepest sympathy.

God Bless you all,

Ivy Eyrick

Miriam, Al, Alfred, and Brian-

I was lucky enough to have known Emmie and your family since our days at Christ the King. Thankfully, I have many memories about her that I will never forget. She was always there for me and no matter what mess I got myself into growing up, I could always count on her for help or support. I can't tell you how much advice she has given me over the years. Emmie has always had a special place in my heart and that will never change. She was one of the strongest people I have ever known and her courage should be an inspiration to everyone that knew her. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Dearest Miriam, Al & Alfred,

Tears are streaming down my face as I read the beautiful words others have written and I write my own about darling Emmie.

No words can suffice to comfort you in you loss of Emmie. My memories of her go back to her childhood days when she and Desiree and Suzanne spent endless hours together exploring all the possibilities of their play world.

Emmie was always a joy with her ready smile, exuberant personality and quick wit. She was so gentle, sweet and loving. You couldn't have met a sweeter; more thoughtful person.

She will forever remain in our hearts and minds. There is a special place for her in heaven. May God bless and keep her and you.

With Loving Memories,

I knew Emmie only through your words and learned from you that she was a beautiful, strong and lovely human being. Her pictures are so beautiful - what joy she must have given you and your family. God bless you and know that you and your family are in my prayers.

Pictures are coming of our loving and dear daughter Emmie. Al, Alfred and I will miss her so much and her boyfriend, Brian, will miss her as well. Please enjoy the photos and remember her as the strong, happy, loving person she was. She loved God and believed He would heal her. Now she has the perfect healing with Him. She was determined, organized and alive. That spirit will remain alive in our hearts.

Miriam and Al and Alfred, Brian,

First off, let me apologize for not making the service. I was out of town for a business function.

Although Emmie and I didn’t really keep in touch as we got older, I’m always reminded by my mother that the first time I ever left the house on my own to play with a friend it was to play with Emmie. As the years went by I saw her on occasion all the while watching her grow to be a beautiful young lady and a treasure to society. Having dealt with a tragic loss over the past few months I too understand what you feel. There is not much that can be said to sooth the hurt, but time will eventually ease the suffering. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to ask.

My deepest sympathies to the Funchess family and Brian. Emmie was such a beautiful and intelligent woman and had such a wonderful disposition, no matter what life was giving her.

She found out about her illness while we were working together and I was pregnant with my first son. She stressed the importance of not taking anything or any moment for granted as I was getting ready to start my family.

I regret that we fell out of touch when I left work to be a new mom but I have thought of her often.

Emmie had the love of a wonderful family, and she told everyone about it. Her mother was her biggest advocate and it was so touching to see the love and devotion she had for Emmie. Emmie also spoke of Brian's unconditional love and support and for how grateful she was for that.

You will all be in mine and my family's prayers.

Emmie - I now have two beautiful sons and I will think of you as I treasure all of the wonderful moments and never take them for granted and I will always remember what you taught me about family and love.

Deepest sympathies....

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Miriam and Al and Alfred, Brian,

Words can never express our deep sorrow over your loss of sweet Emmie...we loved her so much, too, and feel a great hole in our hearts..I can remember when Emmie and Alfred were both born...I know none of us will ever get over losing her, but we all know that she did receive the Miracle we were all praying for, and although we wanted the Miracle to be that she be healed and stay with us, God's plan, which we may not understand, was to have her come "Home" to HIM...we have so many wonderful memories through out the years..Emmie helped me decorate my TH and stayed with me to get used to it all! Remember, Miriam, when she rode with me to Ohio for our family reunion..she was only about 12 years old...we had a great time and over the years many great talks, etc..God Bless and heal all of your broken hearts and we pray for "His(GOD'S) perfect peace that surpasses all understanding" will comfort you and all of us who will miss her so very much...

Love,

Dianne & Joe and Joseph
