Emmett Short Obituary

SHORT Emmett Fulton Short, 82, of 1120 Miramar Ave., Jacksonville, died November 29, 2003 at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital. A graveside funeral service was conducted December 2, 2003 in Fast View Cemetery, Shellman, GA, with Rev. Olin Johnson officiating. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 pm from Lakewood United Methodist Church, 6133 San Jose, Blvd., Jacksonville. Mr. Short was born Dec. 16, 1920 in Americus, GA, son of the late Lovic and Leisla Fulton Short. He grew up in Shellman, GA before moving to Jacksonville, where he was a retired accountant and in insurance sales. Mr. Short was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church, and the Downtown Jacksonville Kiwanis Club for over 30 years. He was a graduate of Duke University, and an Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife; Gloria Greene Short; 2 sisters, Annelle S. Stokes and Lovice S. McGuoirk, all of Jacksonville, 3 nieces, 2 great nieces and 2 great nephews. Memorials may be mad e to the Shellman United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 254, Shellman, GA 39886-0254.
