Our family will miss you and all of the times when we were together. I will especially remember the stories you told of the past and where our family came from. I did not know what an impact you made on so many lives in Florida, but I am not surprised. We all look forward to the time when we are together again for eternity. Although we are sad here, I know Papaw, Mamaw and John are happy to have you with them.

Storm, Angie, Ginger, and Davis family,
I'm sorry this entry is so late. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.
I just wanted to tell my first memory with your Dad. It was the first day of our All-star tournament. I was catching you for the first time. After about 3 innings, he came up to me and asked me how I was doing. I said, "Great, but my hand is a little soar." He reached in his pocket and handed me his red handkerchief. With that patented grin/smile he had, he said "Put this in your glove, you are going to need it."
I want you to know God used your Dad in many ways in my life. He showed me what discipline and commitment really meant. Not just the definition. He gave me many opportunities I will never forget. The greatest of all of them was the opportunity to meet Jesus. I will always remember Dad’s love for the players and games he coached. It has been quite a while since I talked with your Dad. But I know when I see him in heaven, the first words that will come out of my mouth will be, “Hey COACH!”

Mam-maw always thought and wanted Uncle George to stay with her while he visited Texas. So, I guess Uncle George went to heavan to help Uncle John and Pap-paw take care of Mam-maw. (Too, I'm sure those boys need a woman's touch to keep them in line.) May Uncle George's pranks, jokes, funny stories, everlasting memories, and unconditional love continue on in our hearts and family. May we come together to praise the works of our lord and savior for giving his life so that we may be reunited in heaven forever.
Love, & Blessings,

THANKS for the ever lasting memories Uncle George! It was such a pleaure to have you stay with Mam-maw and our family each visit you made to Texas. (I didn't even mind giving up my bed to you each time you stayed with us either.) I cherish each memory you made while in town. Like the time we went to a football game at Hanby Stadium in 2000 reliving old memories of year's gone by while making new memories. Too, thanks for taking me to work each time you were in town. Thanks for being such a good uncle, you will be well missed!

I know this has been a diffcult time for our family this year. With the loss of MAMA and now the loss of
George. All of us must face this in our lives and for right now you must be ready when your time comes. GOD IS IN CONTROL of everything that happens in our lives.I'am sorry that Pam & I were unable to travel to Flordia for the funeral, but what I have gathered George had a big Christian family in Flordia. This speaks great volumes about a man of God.We will miss George greatly, but someday we will all be reunited with him in heaven.George is in a place where there is no pain and suffering and he is getting his rewards for being faithful until the end.I believe that there is a great reunion in heaven with George,John and MaMa. GOD BLESS OUR FAMILY IN THIS TIME OF SORRY.
WE MISS EVERYONE.

I was so sorry to hear about my uncle George's death. In this difficult time it is comforting to know that he is in heaven. And to hear and read of his commitment to God and the people he impacted in a great way. It makes me very proud to be a part of the same family. What a legacy to be a part of. If only we could strive to be remembered as a person like him. The family will be in my prayers as we go through this time of grief.
Love to you all

Our precious family,
We were saddened to hear of the loss of Uncle George. He was such a wonderful man to spend time with. We enjoyed his love of life and listening to him talk of the days when he and his brothers and sisters would play together. He loved each of us and that will never be forgotten. We know that he is singing praises to his Lord and will wait for us on the other side for an awesome reunion one day. Until then, keep the faith and know that all of us in Texas are remembering you in our prayers and remembering an Uncle who loved us and led with a great example in our family.

I grew up with George in Mesquite, Texas. We went to Wildwood Baptist Church with him and his family. I have very fond memories of him. I saw George about 5 years ago when he was here for his mother's birthday. I wish all of you the best and my prayers will be with you.

Mrs. Davis,
I never had the pleasure of knowing Coach Davis on the playing field, but he was still "Coach" to me. He taught my math class when I first arrived at UC in 1997. Math of any sort has never been my strong point, but I will always remember one particular formula Coach seemed to enjoy. Whenever a math problem would have a solution of #1, Coach would say, "Put that on a Valentine's Day card for your sweetheart, tell her to figure it out, and then she'll know where she stands in your book." Though I miss him dearly, I will always treasure this fond memory of Coach Davis. He was #1 in my book.

To my dear family in Florida,
I have read some on the guest book entries and I see a side of my Uncle George that I really didn't know. "What a home town hero".
I will sure miss seeing Uncle George at Thanksgiving in Texas.
Take comfort in knowing that he is now in his heavenly home with other precious family members and one day we will see them again.
I sure wish I could be there hugging you.
Love,

To the Davis Family:
My son was on the football team during Coach Davis' last seasons at UC. Coach Davis was a wonderful Godly man who lived his faith out on a day-to-day basis. His life impacted many young people who learned honor, integrity and fair play on and off the field. May God comfort you during this time of loss. Our prayers are with you.

Dear Davis Family,
I read of your family's great loss and Heaven's great gain and my mind was flooded with memories of the season of my life that included "Coach" at University Christian School.
Your husband, father and grandfather was, and will forever be for me, a shaper of godly character of young men and women.
In the wonderful and difficult times of my high school life, Coach's constant life-testimony of the character of Christ was a gift of God to me. I will be forever grateful and mindful of his participation in God's molding of my character into His image. Coach is now enjoying the multitude of "treasures" he has stored in Heaven.
May the God of all comfort supply all your needs!

Storm, Angie & Ginger,
May you all have comfort in the fact that Coach is with his Savior. There could be no better place for Coach to leave this earth than on the football field that he loved so much. He was such a great coach and a wonderful role model.
The memories of football at UC are some of my fondest. The most infamous being Monday September 10, 1979...a day that he promised we would never forget! Marcus and I still talk about it. He was able to motivate not only with strong discipline (i.e. Sept 10, 1979!!) but also with a gentle, caring hand. I will never forget the opportunity that he gave me to play ball at UC. I will always be grateful for that.
May the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus be with you all.

To the Davis Family-
Our prayers are with you as you go through the difficult times ahead. Our children attend TCA and have heard wonderful things about Coach Davis. Our daughter said that she was absent on a day that Mr. Davis substituted in one of her classes and that she was sorry that she missed the opportunity to know him. We appreciate a man that gave so much of himself for our youth.
God Bless you and we will continue to pray for your family,

Cheryl, Kim and Tony, Storm and Angie, and family: Chris, Ray and I were talking last night about the many years that George was Chris' baseball coach. Many, many times we traveled to and from games and events and it was one of the most meaningful times of our lives. Chris has often said that his junior and senior years at UC as they won the State Championship, Coach Davis was instrumental in guiding him to be the pitcher he always wanted to be. He said "Mom, I would never have had a curve ball without Coach Davis!" I also remember when I first started teaching at UC, George was soooooo encouraging to me (especially since I was an old "new" teacher). We have laughed so many times and had many deep spiritual talks about what it really meant to walk with Jesus. Cheryl and Kim....I love you and will walk with you day by day as we all walk with Jesus, for truly He only is our strength and comfort. Heart to heart, Diane Spann

To Storm, Ginger and Family, Our thoughts go to you on your loss of one of Jacksonville's finest people. George has always been a star in my past and admired for his dedication and christian thoughts that he gave and taught to the many youths. Even when winning all the championships he fathered or helped with, he was still a humble person showing the teams how to win as well as how to lose. George will be truly missed, however, he will always be a spiritual coach to all of us. God Bless you and your family

You will never know the impact your dad had on my life and countless of other lives during his years at UC, etc. He was a mentor of mine as well as a friend and someone I could always count on for solid advice. He always had a calm about him which kept those of us under his leadership calm as well. Chip and I talked today and we both felt that if your dad could have picked the place to go - it would have been on the football field. You are blessed to have had him as your father, coach and friend! We love you and are praying for you all.

Storm, Angie, Ginger, and Davis family,
Yes, it's been a long time since my days at UCS too.
Even though I left back in 1975-76, I remember those days fondly and think of you each time I remember the fun times in the band and at the games. Storm, you have been an inspiration to many families just like your dad was. He has made a great contribution to the community and we are all proud of you for your carrying of the torch to do the same.
I lost my father suddenly just over 2 years ago in a very similar sounding incident - only he was at an Air Show in Lake City. I know your pain, and also know that the Lord will comfort each of you and see you through this difficult time. Please take comfort in knowing that there are so many thoughts and prayers being offered for your family.

As children many of us had sports heroes to look-up to. As we grew older and saw the faults of our heroes, it was harder to hold onto those innocent thoughts of love and respect. Coach Davis was a man that many young people looked-up to for over 3 decades. He was a man who never ‘outgrew’ those feelings of love and respect. Storm & Ginger,
I owe so much to your dad's Kindness & leadership. He encouraged me to become a football official & umpire baseball (a career that lasted 25 years). He supported me going away to school where I met Susan in Bible college. I told Susan, "When we get my home, you have got to meet this wonderful family...they were good to me!" The first place we went was to your house to meet the Davis family!
I have such fond memories of my teen years; riding my bike over to your parent's house and sitting there talking sports with your dad; Ginger sitting in my lap as a two year old; eating cold bake beans (your dad's favorite, not ours!) and peanut butter sandwichs! Your father impacted me as a teenager and I never took a snap or hit a ball. Your dad thought I was something special. He saw potential in me that I could not see in myself when I was a teen.
I am glad he took my suggestion and went to UCS way back in 1971. His decision confirmed God's hand was on him and the ministry of him coaching at the High School level.
I have cried often these past few days...only because I remember those innocent days with such fondness. I am glad I was a friend to your wonderful dad! He gave to me something priceless, belief in myself.
God Bless, Psalm 100

Love, Clara Ruth
