She was the youngest of 7 siblings born to Warren Oliver and Ida Spooner Butler, on December 22, 1918 in the small farming town of Donalsonville, GA. She attended Georgia State Womens College in Valdosta. Gerry was a member of the Greatest Generation and worked in the paymaster office processing paychecks for the Army troops in Ft. Benning, GA. In addition she was on the Board of the Leukemia Foundation and was a Charter member of the Mayors Commission of the Status of Women, appointed by former Mayor Hans Tansler. Mrs. Jenkins retired from the Duval County School Board, having proudly served 23 years on the faculty and staff of Englewood High School. Mama was a huge Gator fan and enjoyed going to the Gator games until she could no longer walk. She loved fishing, gardening and flowers. She was predeceased by Mr. Jenkins after 32 years of marriage. Janet and Chris- It has probably been 10 years since spending some time with Gerry, but even then, she was a pistol! We literally 'grew up" with her at Englewood and never a more hearty laugh could be heard. Glory to God that she has her reward and know that you "kids" and "grandkids" were the delight of her life---after the Gators!!

To Frank, Janet, Marshall and the Jenkins family,
I'm very sorry to read of your mother's passing and for your loss. I guess that she was the last of the old St. Nicholas Park gang. May she now rest in peace.
