Herman Sykes Obituary

SYKES Herman L. Sykes passed away on November 24, 2010. He is survived by his devoted wife, Ella Maria Sykes; children, Danny L. Cummings, Stephania Sykes Burns (Chad) and Herman N. Sykes; seven grandchildren; other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends during public visitation on Friday, December 3, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the St. Thomas Family Life Center, 2119 Rowe Ave. at Moncrief Rd. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2010 in Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church, 1118 W. Beaver Street. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the David H. Dwight Sr. Memorial Committee for Scouting, c/o Boy Scouts of America, 521 S. Edgewood Ave., Jacksonville, FL. 32205. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Roger D. Mr. Sykes was an awesome presence at Paxon. I graduated in 1978 and I have not forgotten how kind he was. He was a good caring teacher. He always had a kind word and a smile everyday. He will be missed. I am sorry to learn of his passing. My prayers are with his family.
