Jack Warnecke Obituary

WARNECKE Jack Gordon Warnecke, 89, passed away in Carson City, Nevada on Sunday July 29, 2007. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother Nellie Mae Walker, originally of Camberley, Surrey, England; his wife of 58 years Jacqueline Way (George) Warnecke; his sister Betty (Warnecke) Wilson; his brother Theodore Warnecke; his daughter Jill Anne (Warnecke) Kowalik; and his grandson's Kevin Palmer Warnecke and John Patrick Warnecke. He is survived by his daughter Judith Way Cranston (husband Lawrie) of Fairfield, California; his son Captain John Richard Warnecke (wife Karen), US Navy (Ret) of Charlottesville, Virginia; his son James Gordon Warnecke of Jacksonville, Florida; his sister Kay Prairo of San Jose, California; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. Jack was born in Farnham, Surrey, England and immigrated to the United States with his family at an early age to Washington State. He graduated with a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Washington in Seattle and immediately began a thirty-five year career with Union Oil Company of California at Oleum Refinery in the San Francisco Bay Area. His final five years with the company were at the Chicago Refinery in Lemont, Illinois. After retirement in 1976, Jack and Jackie settled in Carson City, Nevada where Jack continued to consult for Union Oil Company while involving himself in the community. Jack was a former elected member of the Carson City Board of Supervisors, and was active in Lion's Club, United States Navy League, and Republican Party politics. He loved his daily swimming at the Carson City Aquatic Center. In lieu of flowers, donations are recommended to the Lion's Club Camp Dat-So-La-Lee: (5018 Wright View Dr., Las Vegas, NV 89120); Canine Companions for Independence (P.O. Box 446, Santa Rosa, CA 95402-0446); or the Carson City Aquatic Center (841 N. Roop St., Carson City, NV 89701) A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday August 18, 2007 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 305 N. Minnesota Street, Carson City, NV 89703, with the Reverend Jeffery Paul officiating. Arrangements are being handled by FitzHenry's Funeral Home, Carson City.
