James Prohaska Obituary

PROHASKA It is with great sadness that the family of James Robert Prohaska, known as Jimmy to many, announces his passing after a valiant battle with cancer, on Friday, December 8, 2017, at the age of 50. Jimmy died at home, peacefully surrounded by family. Born July 26, 1967 in Dearborn, Michigan, Jimmy was a graduate of Colorado State University where he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity and where he met his wife, Leslie. After a few moves they landed in Baton Rouge where he went to school at night to receive his MBA from Louisiana State University. Jimmy was a passionate fan of these two schools especially during college football season and even traveled to Tuscaloosa this fall to attend the Alabama v. Colorado State football game. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Leslie, sons James and Aaron, parents Jim and Shirley Prohaska, brother Rob Prohaska, sister Laurie Prohaska, mother-in-law Joanne Upchurch, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Elizabeth and Tom Fee, Bucky and Cecile Upchurch, and Tony Kennedy. Jimmy will also be forever remembered by his nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 13th at Riverside Presbyterian Church, 849 Park Street, Jacksonville, FL 32204, at 11 am. Jimmy loved to support his son's passions. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Young Life-Gainesville, gainesville.younglife.org or Builders Care, builderscare.org.

Not a day goes by that we don't think of you. We cherish all the happy memories we had with you. You were such a joy growing up and we couldn't be prouder of the man you became. You helped raised, with Leslie, 2 wonderful sons that you would be so proud of - and you would have loved your "new" daughter Ally. Rest in Peace our dear Jimmy

I am so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. My heart felt consolences to his family. I only knew Jim for a short time in a business capacity. He had my respect and trust.

I really enjoyed working with Jim during our time together at Arizona Chemical. In addition to his keen sense of business, he was just fun to be around. He also impressed me as a loving husband and father. I am sorry I was unable to attend the service. Deb and I will keep Jim and his family in our prayers.

I worked with Jim at Arizona Chemical in the late 90s and always admired professionalism and ability to analyze a business situation. He was also a joy to be around socially and was someone you could laugh with. He was a good man. I am very sorry to the Prohaska family for your loss. You will be in my prayers up here in Pennsylvania.
