Jane Glick Obituary

GLICK Mrs. Jane Peebles Glick, 92, died at home June 13, 2004 after an extended illness. Mrs. Glick was born April 19, 1912 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the daughter of William M. and Lida Shaler Peebles. Mrs. Glick graduated from Wilson College in 1933 with a Bachelor of Arts in Latin, and married Paul T. Glick in 1937. A resident of Jacksonville since 1952, Mrs. Glick taught for 20 years in the Duval County School System as an elementary school teacher at Hendricks Avenue Elementary and as a Latin and English teacher at Dupont High School. She was a member of South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church and delivered Meals on Wheels for 20 years after she retired. She was predeceased by her husband in 1990. Survivors include her son, Curtis R. Glick (Libia) of Bogota, Colombia; daughter, Mary Jane Wilson (Hank) of Jacksonville; 4 grandchildren, Andre M. Glick and Marcia Glick (Manuel Salge) of Bogota, Colombia, and Harry M. Wilson, IV of Jacksonville and Margaret E. Wilson of New York Ci ty; one great-granddaughter, Penelope Salge of Bogota, Colombia. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 17th, at South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church with Reverend Vincent Kolb and Reverend Susan P. Takis officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32256. Mrs. Glick was my Latin teacher at Dupont in 1971-73. Hers was one of my favorite classes. She was an excellent teacher and I will always remember the fun we had at the Latin meets and the encouragement she gave.

I have fond memories of Mrs. Glick as my Latin teacher at Dupont. What a dear lady. Rest in Peace!
