Jane Sadler Obituary

SADLER Jane Lloyd Sadler died October 7, 2004, at St. Catherine Laboure Manor, after a lengthy illness. She was born October 20, 1917, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Harry and Jennie Lloyd. Mrs. Sadler was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Luke Sadler, Sr., a civic leader and signer of the 1965 “ Yates Manifesto”, a petition presented by community leaders which led to the consolidation of the governments of the City of Jacksonville and Duval County. Mrs. Sadler was a long time volunteer at University hospital (now Shands Jacksonville) and at St. Vincent's Medical Center. She was instrumental in the establishment of the gift shop at University Hospital where she was Volunteer of the Year in 1972. She was a long standing member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and active in the Sanctuary Guild of St. Mark's for many years. Mrs. Sadler had been active in the Fine Arts Guild of Jacksonville University and was a member of The Florida Yacht Club and Timuquana County Club. S he is survived by her three sons, Luther F. Sadler, Jr., Jacksonville, Thomas T. Sadler, Clearwater, Florida, and Richard B. Sadler and his wife, Cheshire, Connecticut, and by five grandchildren, Catherine and Anna Sadler of Jacksonville, Jennifer Sadler Richardson of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Elizabeth and Christopher Sadler of Cheshire, Connecticut. The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Catherines Laboure Manor and her care giver of many years, Deborah, Jeter, for their help and support. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 11,at St. Marks Episcopal Church, 4129 Oxford Avenue, with the Reverend R. Leigh Spruill and the Reverend Barnum McCarty officiating. There will be a reception immediately following the service in Leatherbury Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family request that gifts be made to St. Marks Episcopal Church of to St. Vincents Foundation.
