John Joseph Keane

KEANE John Joseph Keane, 91, passed away on June 30, 2010, joining his wife, Mae, and son, William, in Heaven. He died peacefully in Atlantic Beach, FL. John was born on September 17, 1918 in New York City to Austin and Annie Keane. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1936. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he joined the United States Merchant Marine. He continued his service in the U.S. Naval Reserve until retirement, attaining the rank of Commander. John and Mae were married in 1942. Following the war, he joined the New York City Police Department, eventually joining the harbor patrol. He retired in 1967, and later moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL. They also had a summer residence in Newport, VT. John lived a life of service and commitment to others. He will be remembered as a caring person who took a genuine and sincere interest in others.
