John Webb Obituary

WEBB John Allen Webb, 79, of Jacksonville, beloved husband of Sandra (Moore) Webb, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 15, 2010 in Connecticut after returning from a family fishing trip in western Pennsylvania. He was born in Elberton, Georgia on May 19, 1931 to Harris and Virginia (Strozier) Webb. He resided in Elberton, graduated from Elberton High School and attended East Carolina University. He retired from the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country for 22 years. He then worked for the Veteran's Administration and the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. John never met a stranger and always took the time to help others. He will be remembered for his gift of storytelling and his passion for fishing, but mostly for his devotion to his family. John is survived by his loving wife, Sandra, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage, his daughters Leslie Dawson of Jacksonville and Susan Wright and her husband Harris Wright of Glastonbury, Ct. In addition, he leaves behind his grandchildren Rebecca, Katie, and Lizzy Dawson and Matthew, Patrick, and Allison Wright. He also had the blessing to spend time with his great granddaughter Julianna. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at The Episcopal Church of Our Savior, 12236 Mandarin Road. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Church of Our Savior. Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com
