Pastor Bill and Family,
My heart is saddened by the Homegoing of Joy. Our loss is Heaven gain. I loved that lady very much. She was always there for me at First Baptist Church of Aston with smiles, hugs and prayers. My prayers are with you and your family. May God bless you all.

Dear Dougherty Family,
My heart was saddened by the news of Miss Joy's passing. I was privileged and blessed to meet her during my years at First Baptist Church in Aston, Pa. My fondest memory of her was during one of our ladie's retreats and her and Tami presented a wonderful lesson that day where her daughter shot the fiery darts of the devil at her. Just this past summer I used that scenario to show a group of children at the Salvation Army in Annapolis, MD their need to put on the whole armor of God and thought of Miss Joy. God's word is so true when it states that only what we do for the Lord will last. What a blessing she has been in the lives of these children 20 yrs. later. And lastly, my young children were so entertained by Mr. Bill when he preached from our pulpit in Aston. May God continue to use your family to further His kingdom.

Dear Dougherty family,
Miss Joy meant so much to me. I did not know her for a long time but she was ALWAYS there for me. She was a true picture of a pastor's wife. I know now she has met my daddy & sister that have gone on before me & they suffer no more. I love y'all & thank God for you.

It's never easy to say good-bye but praise God we have our hope in Him and we can be comforted knowing that one day we will see our loved ones again. My mom thought the world of Miss Joy (as we all did) and although I truly feel your heartache, I couldn't help but smile when I pictured my mom (Gloria) and Miss. Joy worshiping at the feet of Jesus. Your family is on my mind and in my prayers.

Pastor Dougherty & Family,
We are not sure we can convey to you & your family our deep sadness at the loss of "Miss Joy". For years she was an inspiration to us. We felt honored to know her, and to be a witness to the ultimate example of a strong, ever faithful Christian woman. She was simply put: unwavering faith, grace, compassion, and a perfect picture of God's love to all of us around her. She most certainly has brought "joy" to heaven with her presence, but has left a void in our hearts here on earth. As I type this, I can see her smile, and know that she is basking in the light and love of her heavenly Father. Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you, and know that we love you.

Sweet Joy! Heaven rejoices in her arrival as our hearts are saddened..we will miss her sweet smiles, hugs and encouragement. Our memories are so precious throughout the years - going to your home after church on Sunday nights, Joy and Bill in our wedding, fishing, just so many precious memories that we will always treasure. We continue to pray for your family, knowing that God will meet all your needs and enfold you in His loving arms and give you the strength you will need in the days ahead. God bless you.

Please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of your loved one. I met Joy at summer camp when she was still a teenager and a member of a church in Winter Haven. We attended Baptist Bible College together and I knew her very well. She was a wonderful, unique person who always put other people first. I am sure that your family has been blessed to have shared your lives with this caring person. Your loss is heaven's gain.
God bless and comfort you through this time in your lives.
